Expanding Hoang Hoa Tham Street and the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road are two key projects that will open to traffic on the occasion of Tet At Ty 2025, helping to reduce congestion at Tan Son Nhat gateway.
Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Traffic Construction Management Board (Traffic Board) of Ho Chi Minh City said that at 12 noon today (January 23), two key traffic projects including the expansion of Hoang Hoa Tham Street and the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa will open to traffic in phase 1.
The project connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa road has a budget of more than 4,800 billion VND. The construction scale of the route is more than 4km long, the cross-section is from 29.5m to 48m with 6 lanes.
Along with that, the project has built an underpass at the intersection of Phan Thuc Duyen - Tran Quoc Hoan streets, 42m long, 9m wide (2 lanes), opened to traffic at the end of August 2024.
Construction of a 17m wide (4 lanes) 980m long overpass in front of Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat airport has been basically completed.
Today, the investor put into use the bidding package No. 11, 12, 1.25km long, from the starting point adjacent to the Phan Thuc Duyen underpass to the intersection of Hoang Hoa Tham street.
This section has a road cross-section of 28.5-48m, with sidewalks on both sides. At the same time, the project also builds a new drainage system with D800-D1200 round sewers and a domestic drainage system located on the sidewalk.
With the opening of this section, people can move seamlessly from the Phan Thuc Duyen - Tran Quoc Hoan underpass intersection to Hoang Hoa Tham Street, helping to reduce the load on the Lang Cha Ca roundabout and Cong Hoa Street.
With the project to expand Hoang Hoa Tham Street, section 1 will be opened to traffic from the intersection with the Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road (adjacent to the airport) to Cong Hoa Street. The total investment of 403 billion VND (of which construction and installation costs are about 70 billion VND, compensation costs for site clearance are about 304 billion VND) is invested from the city budget.
The route is 783m long, expanded to 22m with 4 lanes, along with the construction of drainage, lighting, trees, technical trenches, and complete traffic organization along the route.
The two projects opened to traffic at the same time before Tet At Ty, helping to form a new traffic axis connecting the main traffic axes in the area around Tan Son Nhat airport, reducing traffic congestion.
The two projects also help ensure traffic safety in the area, beautify the urban area and create momentum for socio-economic development.
On January 21, the Traffic Department also coordinated with the Department of Transport and Binh Tan District to organize the opening ceremony of Tan Ky Tan Quy Bridge with a cost of nearly 500 billion VND, creating convenience for people to travel during the Lunar New Year 2025.
