On the morning of March 5, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long had a working session with the German Ambassador to Vietnam and PNE Group.
Attending the meeting, on the Vietnamese side were Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long and leaders of the Electricity Department, Energy Institute; on the German side were Ms. Helga Margarete Barth, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Vietnam; representatives of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in the region; Mr. Heiko Wuttke, Executive Chairman of PNE Group; Mr. Thorsten Fastenau - Executive Vice President, Head of Wind Power Department, PNE Group.
Overview of the working session between the two sides |
At the meeting, leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade outlined the orientation for developing renewable energy, especially wind power in Vietnam, in accordance with the Electricity Law, Power Plan VIII and the revised Power Plan VIII in the coming time.
In particular, Vietnam continues to develop synchronously and diversify types of power sources with a reasonable structure to ensure energy security, enhance the autonomy of the electricity industry, and reduce dependence on imported fuel.
Promote the development of renewable energy sources, new energy, green energy suitable to the ability to ensure system safety with reasonable electricity prices, especially self-produced, self-consumed electricity sources, rooftop solar power...
Functional units of the Ministry of Industry and Trade attended the meeting |
Continue to promote the development of onshore, nearshore and offshore wind power, solar power, especially water surface solar power in accordance with the absorption capacity of the system, the capacity to release power of the grid, reasonable electricity prices and transmission costs associated with ensuring operational safety and overall economy of the power system, making the most of the existing grid infrastructure.
Encourage the development of rooftop solar power for on-site consumption, without connection or sale of electricity to the national grid. Development of concentrated solar power must be combined with the installation of battery storage with a minimum rate of 10% of capacity and stored for 2 hours.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long |
According to the plan, by 2030, the total offshore wind power capacity serving domestic electricity demand is expected to reach about 6,000 MW, expected to operate in the 2030-2035 period. The orientation is to reach 113,503-139,097 MW by 2050.
In addition, we will continue to develop offshore wind power in combination with other types of renewable energy (solar power, onshore and nearshore wind power, etc.) to produce new energy (hydrogen, green ammonia, etc.) to serve domestic needs and export.
The estimated offshore wind power capacity for new energy production is about 15,000 MW in 2035 and about 240,000 MW in 2050.
Ms. Helga Margarete, German Ambassador to Vietnam |
At the meeting, Ms. Helga Margarete, German Ambassador to Vietnam, highly appreciated the Government's orientation as well as the efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in developing renewable energy and new energy. She expressed her wish to continue to receive support and deeper cooperation with Vietnam in the energy sector, especially wind power, based on the results of cooperation between the two sides in the recent past.
A representative of PNE Group said that the group opened a representative office in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh in October 2024 to implement the Hon Trau wind power project (Binh Dinh). At the same time, he requested the Vietnamese side to consider and support the group to smoothly implement the project in the coming time in line with Vietnam's development orientation. |
