Cau Quan Town unites to build a civilized urban area

Cau Quan Town was established in 1995, with a natural area of ​​nearly 505 hectares, with 06 hamlets; 2,432 households with 8,172 people, over 87% of the population are Catholics, people live mainly on industry - handicrafts, trade - services accounting for 72% of the total population. It is located along the Hau River, with Dai Ngai ferry connecting National Highway 60 between the two provinces of Tra Vinh and Soc Trang. Not only that, Cau Quan is also the southwestern gateway of Tra Vinh province. With many advantages in geographical location, creating conditions for the development of economic - cultural - social fields.

Mr. Pham Van Vinh, Member of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, Secretary of the Cau Quan Town Party Committee, said: In order to achieve the goal of building a town that meets civilized urban standards according to the set roadmap, the town has developed a plan to specify the criteria for a civilized town, linked to the annual socio-economic development goals. At the same time, assign specific tasks to members of the steering committee. Periodically organize inspections and assessments to learn from the achieved and unachieved criteria, in order to have specific solutions to effectively implement the unachieved criteria and continue to maintain the achieved criteria. In particular, focus on propaganda and mobilization work, aiming to gradually change the awareness and responsibility of local people in building a civilized lifestyle, complying with regulations on urban order, construction order, ensuring traffic safety; building a culture of behavior in public places, in the community. Mobilize people to promote economic restructuring, preserve and promote national cultural identity; practice civilized lifestyle, build cultural families and cultural neighborhoods; comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, and local regulations...

In order to completely change the face of the town, from the budget and mobilized from the people, Cau Quan has invested more than 53 billion VND to build many basic construction works, serving the socio-economic development, national defense and security in the area such as: upgrading sidewalks, installing public lighting systems, drainage systems; upgrading, expanding, and building new inner-city roads, inter-hamlet roads; renovating and planting new trees and ornamental flowers along roads and parks. Repairing the centralized administrative area; upgrading schoolyards, fences of primary and secondary schools and medical stations. In addition, Cau Quan also made a budget estimate and submitted it to the District People's Committee for approval of the budget for building the town's cultural house and the cultural houses of the hamlets.

In addition to investing in urban infrastructure construction, Cau Quan town also regularly organizes campaigns to restore traffic safety and environmental sanitation; inspects and reminds businesses, traders, encroaching on sidewalks, roadsides, illegal construction, maintains urban order and ensures aesthetics. Encourages and creates favorable conditions for people to promote production and business activities to increase the proportion of industry - handicrafts, trade - services. In production and business activities, it is necessary to commit to ensuring food safety and hygiene, environmental sanitation. At the same time, promote the implementation of national target programs on poverty reduction; social security policies, care for people with meritorious services, policy families; vocational training, job introduction to reduce the poverty rate, increase income for people.

Talking about joining hands with local Party committees and authorities to build civilized urban areas, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trieu, Head of Mac Bac Parish, representative of religious establishments in the area, said: in recent years, the Parish has regularly propagated to parishioners to strictly comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; especially to practice a civilized lifestyle, cultural families; and participate in building civilized worship and belief establishments.

Along with that, the local Party Committee and government always pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the churches in the parish to operate in accordance with their principles and purposes; at the same time, ensure the freedom of belief of parishioners in accordance with the law. Thereby, believers and parishioners always trust in the leadership of the Party and State, unite, and actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, contributing to the overall development of the locality. With the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance, regardless of ethnicity or religion; in the past time, the Parish Executive Committee has mobilized parishioners and parishioners to contribute more than 260 million VND to support disadvantaged households inside and outside the locality.

Up to now, I see the appearance of the town has changed a lot, infrastructure such as: electricity, roads, schools, stations have been invested in and built, the urban landscape is spacious, clean and beautiful, the people's lives are increasingly improved.

After 02 years of implementing the construction of a town that meets civilized urban standards according to Decision No. 04/2022/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister; Cau Quan town has achieved 09 criteria with 52/52 civilized urban standards. Currently, the average income per capita reaches over 89.3 million VND/year; the poverty rate has decreased to 0.57%; compared to the total number of households, 97.67% of households meet the cultural family standards; 100% of agencies, schools, cultural health stations, and civilized religious establishments are recognized by the above. The rate of households using electricity, having audio-visual equipment, and using hygienic water for daily life reaches 100%; 100% of households have hygienic toilets...

Up to now, the town has achieved universal education standards at preschool, primary, secondary and illiteracy eradication levels, with 4/5 schools recognized as meeting national standards. Urban infrastructure has been invested, upgraded and expanded in accordance with planning, creating favorable conditions for travel, trade of goods, and production development for people, contributing to changing the urban landscape and serving the socio-economic development of the locality. Cultural institutions serving entertainment are exploited and operate effectively to ensure the people's needs for exercise, entertainment and recreation; the landscape and environment are renovated to ensure green - clean - beautiful. Cau Quan also effectively implements social security policies, cares for policy families, people with meritorious services, vocational training, and job referrals; political security, social order and safety are ensured.

It can be said that the joint efforts and consensus of the Party Committee, the Government and the People in building a civilized urban area and developing the economy and society have contributed to creating a new face for the dynamic, creative and developing Cau Quan land. This is also an important premise to help Cau Quan town continue to promote its position as the economic - cultural - social center of the district and strive to become a Ward under Tieu Can town in the near future.
