High school graduation exam 2025 1 day earlier

Grade 12 students register for the exam from April 21 to 28. During this time, educational institutions will organize for candidates to register online and enter the exam registration form, register for graduation recognition for candidates who submit their application online.

Grade 12 candidates in the 2024-2025 school year will take the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 general education program. Independent candidates who have not graduated from high school can choose to take the exam according to the 2006 general education program or the 2018 general education program.

If taking the exam according to the 2018 general education program, candidates must declare on the software complete and correct information with evidence to enjoy priority in university and college admission according to regulations and instructions (for independent candidates taking the exam according to the 2006 program, data has been saved on the system from previous years). The arrangement of exam rooms is carried out according to the following principles for the optional exam session: In each exam room, each subject can only open the exam paper once; when the exam paper for a subject is opened, candidates who have registered to take that subject must simultaneously take that subject.

In the essay exam marking stage, immediately after marking, the head of the marking committee/head of the marking group for each round sets a password to lock the marking data and directly preserves the password.

The head examiner organizes the examiners to directly draw lots to hand over the test bags or the heads of the examination groups draw lots for a number of test bags for the entire examination group, then the heads of the examination groups organize the drawing (to hand over the test bags to the examiners). The examination groups do not mark round 1 before marking round 2, but do it in parallel (between the two rounds).

This year, candidates (taking the exam for high school graduation) will take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Math, Literature) and 2 elective subjects from the subjects with scores in the high school education program (subjects that candidates have chosen to study at high school level). Candidates with foreign language certificates that meet the requirements are still allowed to use them to be exempted from the exam, but they cannot be converted into 10 points in the high school graduation recognition consideration as before.

Candidates will not be awarded vocational points as before, this is implemented according to the design of the 2018 general education program. From 2025, foreign candidates studying high school in Vietnam will be allowed to use Vietnamese certificates to be exempted from the Literature exam in the graduation recognition consideration. The organization of the 2025 high school graduation exam will continue to be assigned to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to preside over and be responsible for all stages of the exam such as printing exam questions, invigilation, grading, etc.

According to the newly issued guidelines, on July 16, the examination councils will announce the exam results. The Departments of Education and Training will complete the recognition of high school graduation by July 18 and issue temporary certificates, return transcripts, and related certificates (originals) to students by July 22.
