Talking to Zing , Thuy Le (19 years old) said she registered to take the TOPIK I exam at Dai Nam University's exam site on the morning of April 9. It is known that this exam is organized by the IIG Vietnam Education Organization.
According to the email notification that Le received, the exam time started at 9:40. However, when she arrived at the exam site at 9:13, Le was unexpectedly informed that she was not allowed to enter the exam room even though she arrived 27 minutes early.
"I was surprised and waited outside until 9:40 but still could not enter the exam. Without being informed of the reason, I was confused and disappointed, so I had to leave alone," Le shared.
Not only Le, many candidates at other testing locations in Hanoi, Da Nang, Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City also encountered similar situations.

Candidates say IIG did not notify in email
Le said that after returning home, she learned that the reason she was not allowed into the exam room was because candidates had to arrive 30 minutes before the exam time. That meant that Le had to be at the exam location by 9:10 at the latest.
However, according to Le, in the email and exam form sent to candidates, IIG only informed the registration number, exam room and exam time from 9:40 - 11:20, without reminding candidates to arrive at least 30 minutes before the exam time.
"I'm really disappointed. I spent so much money and effort studying but couldn't take the exam, not to mention I also had to pay 550,000 VND in fees," Le said, adding that she planned to use the TOPIK certificate to supplement her study abroad application. If she missed this exam, she would lose her advantage in the visa interview.
Taking the TOPIK II exam at the Marie Curie Ha Dong Secondary and High School (campus 3) on the afternoon of April 9, Nguyet Thu (Hanoi) also encountered a similar situation.
Thu said her exam time started at 12:50. However, because the email and registration form did not specify that she had to be in the exam room before 12:20, Thu arrived at the exam location at 12:30 and was informed by the head of the exam location that she was not allowed to enter the exam location.
Thu said that at the same testing site, there were about 40 other people who were also forced to stand outside the door.
"It took more than 2 hours for the exam site representative to make a report and promise to resolve the issue for us (me and 28 others, some of whom couldn't wait too long and left) within a week," Nguyet Thu told Zing.

Thu said this was the first time she took the TOPIK Korean language certification exam organized by IIG. The previous times she took the exam at other units, the above situation did not occur, all information and notes were clearly sent to the candidate's email and exam ticket.
"The time I took the TOPIK exam in Korea, the exam form clearly stated that candidates had to arrive before 12:20 pm and it was highlighted in red, making it very visible," Thu said.
Currently, Thu is putting her master's degree in Korea on hold. When her hold is about to expire, she plans to take the TOPIK exam to apply for a visa in September. However, by missing the TOPIK exam this time, Thu will most likely not be able to return to Korea, which means losing the 30 million VND she paid for the first semester's tuition and the 50% scholarship.
IIG affirms to comply with regulations
Speaking to Zing on the afternoon of April 10, a representative of the IIG Education Organization said that the unit has grasped the incident and is reviewing and counting all related cases. It is expected that on April 11, the unit will announce the solution to each candidate.
Responding to the fact that in the email, IIG did not notify candidates to arrive 30 minutes before the test time, the representative said that this unit had followed the regulations.
Accordingly, information about exam time, exam date and the note "Candidates need to be present at least 30 minutes before the exam time" has been specifically updated on IIG's information pages (website, Facebook...)
In addition, IIG has also fully informed candidates through regulations and instructions for taking the TOPIK exam. Candidates have also committed to reading the instructions carefully before registering for the exam and at the same time complying with the regulations.
However, discussing the above issue, Thuy Le said that such important information needs to be clearly announced by IIG to candidates via email or on the exam form.

" The lack of clear notification shows that IIG is irresponsible and unprofessional in the organization process. I myself also regret not carefully studying the exam regulations and instructions," Le said.
Sharing the same opinion with Thuy Le, Nguyet Thu added that not all candidates have time to follow the website and Facebook of the organizing unit to update information regularly. Therefore, important information needs to be notified via email and shown on the exam notice.
It is known that this is the first time IIG Vietnam has organized the TOPIK certificate exam in Vietnam.
TOPIK (short for Test of Proficiency in Korean) is a Korean language proficiency test organized annually by the National Institute for International Education (국립국제교육원, National Institute for International Education, abbreviated: NIIED).
The TOPIK certificate is the only internationally recognized Korean language proficiency certificate. The TOPIK exam is not only held in Korea but also in 78 countries around the world.
