Gia Lai Pedagogical College officially transferred to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education

Today (September 5), Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son signed a decision to establish a branch of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in Gia Lai province on the basis of Gia Lai Pedagogical College.

According to this decision, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education is responsible for reporting to the Ministry of Education and Training, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee and relevant ministries and branches to organize the handover and reception of learners, personnel, finance, assets, facilities, equipment and related documents of Gia Lai College of Education according to the provisions of law; report to the Ministry of Education and Training on the conditions to ensure educational quality to allow the branch to carry out training activities according to the provisions of law.

Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that the branch in Gia Lai province will be responsible for training human resources for Gia Lai province and some provinces in the Central Highlands and neighboring areas. In particular, the branch commits to prioritizing training in pedagogical fields to ensure enough teachers for localities in this region, especially teachers of subjects that are in shortage. At the same time, training teachers, education managers and other human resources will also be prioritized.

According to Professor Son, the total expected training scale for the 2024-2026 period is about 650 university students and about 200-300 college students in preschool education. The enrollment scale will be calculated to increase by 5-10% each year for the 2027-2030 period based on the results of the region's human resource forecast.

Previously, in April last year, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son also signed a decision approving the policy of establishing a branch of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in Gia Lai on the basis of Gia Lai Pedagogical College. The branch of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in Gia Lai will train in pedagogical majors, undergraduate and postgraduate, cooperate with international universities and model experimental high schools, providing human resources for the Central Highlands region as well as other provinces.

In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Branch in Long An officially started enrolling students for the first time. Of which, 6 majors at university level include: preschool education, primary education, physical education, mathematics pedagogy, literature pedagogy and English pedagogy (standard scores for considering high school graduation exam scores range from 22-27.2 points). The standard score for preschool education at college level is 18.7 points.
