Many people expressed their pride in being his students, a shining example for many generations. Many people even cried because they admired their teacher's heart. "When I learned that he withdrew all his savings to support people in flood-hit areas, I cried, my eyes stung because I felt sorry for him, because I was moved and because I admired him. He is old and his health is not good anymore, but like when he was teaching, he always looks out for everyone. His heart is truly admirable," said a student of Mr. Thach. After learning that his teacher withdrew all his retirement money to contribute to people in flood-hit areas, the student also decided to withdraw half of his salary to support people in the North who are affected by storm No. 3. In response to the words of admiration from everyone and his students, Professor Dr. Le Ngoc Thach humbly replied: "Thank you, you're welcome." It is known that the amount of 1 billion VND that Mr. Le Ngoc Thach donated to support people in the storm and flood areas is the savings over many years from his pension, teaching salary and even money from writing books with the intention of saving it for his old age. However, when he learned about the situation of people struggling to cope with storms and floods in many northern provinces, Mr. Thach urged himself to do something useful. Realizing that the affected people were in dire need of material and spiritual support to overcome difficulties, he decided to withdraw his old age pension to support people. Talking about using all his savings to give away, Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Thach said that these were things within his ability, whatever he could do, he would try his best. With many opinions worried that he would be in need later, he said that he lived alone, did not spend much and still had his monthly pension.
