Playing at the "fire pit" Gelora Bung Karno and with the determination to win, the Indonesian team attacked from the beginning of the match. They created quite a lot of pressure on the opponent Bahrain's goal.
But the Indonesian players' finishing was quite poor, wasting many good chances. It was not until the 24th minute that Indonesia got the opening goal thanks to striker Ole Romeny, who plays for Oxford United in the English First Division.
From a long pass from his teammate, Ferdinan ran down to make a pass for Ole Romeny to shoot past goalkeeper Ebrahim Lutfalla (Bahrain).
The goal made the match more interesting in the remaining minutes, when Bahrain was forced to push forward to find an equalizer and Indonesia had the opportunity to develop their defensive counter-attacking style. Both teams had scoring opportunities but their strikers finished very poorly, often shooting "high into the sky" in very favorable situations.
Indonesia missed at least two great opportunities. In the 67th minute, Indonesia had a quick counter-attack and Oratmangoen made a smart pass to get past Bahrain's defenders, but Ferdinan shot high into the sky even though the goal was wide open.
In the 79th minute, Reijnders shot wide again when facing goalkeeper Ebrahim Lutfalla.
However, with the 1-0 victory, Indonesia temporarily ranked fourth with 9 points, 1 point behind the third-ranked team Saudi Arabia and 3 points ahead of the two teams behind, Bahrain (6 points, goal difference -8) and China (6 points, goal difference -13).
In the next match, Indonesia will meet China at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on June 5.
