Facing a formidable opponent, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet fielded what was considered the optimal lineup, including Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Tran Tu Linh, setter Doan Thi Lam Oanh, libero Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, and hitters Dinh Thi Tra Giang, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, and Nguyen Thi Trinh.

The Vietnamese female players started off very well, winning 25/18 in the first set, but Indonesia played explosively in the second set, winning 27/25, tying the score at 1-1. With high spirits, the Indonesian players played "sublimely" in the third set, winning 25/21 to take the lead 2-1.
With no way back, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and the Vietnamese women's volleyball team were determined to overcome difficulties, winning 25/20 in game four, equalizing the score 2-2, bringing the final match into the decisive 5th game.

Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Megawati proved their leadership role by scoring important points in this nerve-wracking match. However, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students took advantage of the opportunities they had, winning 15/13, completing a 3-2 victory, and taking the championship title.
The Asian Challenge Cup title helps the Vietnamese women's volleyball team win a ticket to the World Challenge Cup in France next July. This is the first time the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has participated in a high-level competition.
