Rookie goalkeepers get a 'basket' of knowledge
3 out of 4 goalkeepers currently on the Vietnam national team are almost all brand new faces. They are Tran Trung Kien (from HAGL Club), Nguyen Van Viet (SLNA) and Trinh Xuan Hoang (Thanh Hoa). The total number of times these 3 players have worn the national team jersey is only... 1 time (goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet, in a friendly match with Syria in October 2023, under coach Troussier).
Most of the goalkeepers of the Vietnam team at this time are rookies.
These goalkeepers are mostly quite young.
The goalkeepers mentioned above are also quite young, Nguyen Van Viet is 23 years old this year, Tran Trung Kien is 22 years old and Trinh Xuan Hoang is 25 years old. The only goalkeeper on the list of FIFA Days matches in March who has relatively much experience playing at the national team level is Nguyen Dinh Trieu (34 years old, 9 times wearing the Vietnamese national team jersey).
