On the afternoon of January 31, Petrokimia Volleyball Club (Indonesia) posted a video of Tran Thi Thanh Thuy's moments in the team's jersey along with a thank you message. This post implicitly confirmed the information that the main striker of the Vietnamese team will say goodbye to the Indonesian club after only 1 month.
Thanh Thuy's departure from Petrokimia was a big surprise because the athlete born in 1995 played well in the first matches. She quickly proved her ability, becoming the team's main scorer despite having just recovered from an injury and not being able to play in her favorite attacking position.
"It's sad to see 4T being replaced. I wanted to see her play more," aii_05 commented on Petrokimia's Instagram post. Many fans of the Indonesian team expressed regret when Tran Thi Thanh Thuy left.
Another wrote: "It's always a joy to see Titi (the nickname Indonesian fans call Thanh Thuy) compete. Her celebration is so passionate. The new coach should have left."
Fan Etticha Julianty commented: "Hope to see her play in Indonesia again. I cried when I heard Titi left."
Before terminating the contract with Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Petrokimia recruited an American striker, Julia Sangiacomo. Thanh Thuy is still one of the team's best players in both scoring and defending. However, according to Indonesian media, Petrokimia wants a foreign player with even more outstanding skills and a higher scoring efficiency than the Vietnamese team's striker.
Thanh Thuy is the Vietnamese volleyball player who has played abroad the most. After making her mark in Japan for 2 years, this striker tried her hand in Europe with Kuzeyboru (Türkiye). However, injuries prevented Thanh Thuy from contributing much and she soon left the club.
