BTO - In recent years, along with other provinces and cities across the country, Binh Thuan has been focusing on developing, consolidating and improving the efficiency of cooperatives, mainly in the agricultural sector. One of the goals is to operate effectively in conjunction with production linkages along the value chain, applying high technology, digital transformation, developing green, organic, circular agriculture, and adapting to climate change.
Improving the efficiency of cooperative operations
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Binh Thuan, up to now, the province has 167 agricultural cooperatives (including 145 active cooperatives and 22 inactive cooperatives) and 191 farms (88 crop farms, 85 livestock farms, 8 aquaculture farms and 10 mixed farms). The provincial agricultural sector has continued to monitor, focus on developing, consolidating and improving operational efficiency of farm, cooperative and cooperative economic activities.
It can be mentioned that the provincial agricultural sector has supported agricultural cooperatives in the province to participate in seminars to learn knowledge and experience in cooperative development. Along with that, reviewing and surveying the current capacity and operational efficiency of agricultural cooperatives in production, processing, preservation and trade of agricultural products, processing agricultural by-products, developing green economy, circular economy. At the same time, coordinating with Thien Tam Fund to survey, select and support 4 cooperatives (up to 1 billion VND/cooperative) to build cooperative and cooperative models linked with near-poor households under the cooperation program "Building typical agricultural economic models associated with new rural construction". The cooperatives that benefited are Phong Phu Agricultural Service Cooperative (Tuy Phong district), Long Dien 1 Agricultural Business - Service Cooperative (Tuy Phong district), Ham Kiem Dragon Fruit Production Service Cooperative (Ham Thuan Nam district), Tan Tra Aquaculture Cooperative (Duc Linh district). These cooperatives are supported with funds to invest in equipment and agricultural materials for cooperatives, support production and business activities to develop cooperatives associated with support and job creation for poor households and disadvantaged people in society. Along with that, the Department of Rural Development has organized training courses on the Cooperative Development Training Program associated with agricultural tourism, identifying opportunities for rural tourism development in 2024...
Encourage and prioritize support
According to the leader of the Provincial Farmers' Association, agricultural - farmer - rural development is identified by the Resolution of the 14th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025 as one of the three breakthroughs. Therefore, the province has issued many projects and resolutions to promote agricultural and rural economic development. For example, Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU, dated September 10, 2021 of the Provincial Party Committee (term 14) on developing a modern, sustainable, high-value-added agricultural sector.
In particular, promoting comprehensive and synchronous development of the rural economy with a reasonable agricultural, industrial and service structure based on science - technology, innovation and creativity. Strongly mobilizing and effectively using resources from economic sectors to participate in investing in developing agricultural and rural infrastructure.
Binh Thuan province also encourages credit institutions to lend to agriculture, farmers, and rural areas to invest in production and business development. Effectively implement preferential credit policies to create jobs and change occupations in rural areas. Create breakthroughs in research, application of science and technology, innovation, and comprehensive digital transformation of the agricultural sector. Thereby, strongly promote innovation, science and technology activities to truly become an important driving force in agricultural and rural development...
However, currently, the agricultural - farmer - rural sector, including the activities of cooperatives and cooperatives, still faces many difficulties. These include unstable market prices, fragmented production, weak production linkages along the value chain... With these difficulties, it requires the continuous efforts of farmers, each cooperative and cooperative, and the joint efforts, contributions and support of the entire political system... to focus on developing, consolidating and improving the efficiency of cooperatives.
According to the provincial Department of Rural Development, by 2025, Binh Thuan is expected to have about 170 cooperatives and about 192 farms. The agricultural sector will continue to advise the provincial People's Committee to implement the project to perfect the new effective cooperative model for the period 2021 - 2025. In addition, it will coordinate to implement the 2025 Collective Economic Development Plan in the province.
