Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Vu Mai Hoang, Head of the People's Weekend Committee, said that the People's Weekend Newspaper was the first weekend publication of the Vietnamese revolutionary press. 35 years ago. On February 12, 1989, the People's Sunday Newspaper, now the People's Weekend Newspaper, was officially born according to Decision No. 80 dated December 24, 1988 of the Central Party Secretariat signed by comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh.
With the mission of the first political-social weekly newspaper of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, Nhan Dan Cuoi Tuan, over the past 35 years, has always been steadfast in its principles and criteria of a Party newspaper publication, coupled with the flexibility to adjust and improve communication methods to constantly improve its development orientation, build its identity, affirm its mettle and the right and effective direction.
With a streamlined organization, the team of Nhan Dan Weekend reporters always upholds the spirit of initiative and creativity in professional work, focusing on organizing a wide network of collaborators, specializing in each field of information. People's Weekend also has a breakthrough change in promoting the publication. In June 2021, the PDF version of People's Weekend issues was launched at docbao.nhandan.vn, allowing readers to read each page directly. From May 15, 2022, the PDF version of People's Weekend officially appeared on the online newspaper platform PressReader.
In addition, in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the People's Weekend Committee will coordinate with the Information Center to organize content and produce 20 issues of the Ethnic-Religious supplement (later renamed Hon Viet), and at the same time participate in making the Ethnic-Religious radio program on the online platform.
Currently, Nhan Dan Weekend Newspaper consists of 16 pages, A3 size, 6 pages printed in color, distributed nationwide every Friday, with an average print quantity of more than 40,000 copies/issue.
