(CPV) – According to Minister Huynh Thanh Dat, with the highest determination, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communications have closely coordinated with the Central Economic Committee and the Central Party Office to advise and submit to the Politburo for promulgation Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

On the afternoon of December 30, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held a conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025 of the S&T sector.
Science, technology and innovation make practical contributions to socio-economic development
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Conference, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat said that in 2024, science, technology and innovation (S&T) had made many practical contributions to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, improving social security and people's quality of life.
Accordingly, many achievements in science and technology have been applied quickly and widely in fields such as health, agriculture, industry, information technology, national defense, security, etc.; activities to promote support for searching, exchanging, and transferring technology have been promoted. The national science and technology potential has been strengthened, with many changes in the socialization of investment in science and technology. The quality of human resources in science and technology has been constantly improved, including many prestigious scientists recognized by the world, gradually forming a number of advanced science and technology organizations of international stature in both the public and private sectors.
Along with that, Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem has developed strongly, creating a new generation of businesses operating based on intellectual property and capable of accessing the global market. In 2024, Vietnam's creative startup ecosystem ranked 56th in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index. Vietnam's Global Innovation Index (GII) has continuously improved, rising from 59th (in 2016) to 44th in 2024. Vietnam's GII 2024 results have three world-leading indexes, including the Creative Goods Export Index for the first time.
According to the Minister, implementing the direction of the Central Steering Committee and the Government Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communications will merge into the Ministry of Science, Technology and Communications to jointly achieve the goals set in the new era, the era of national growth.
With the highest determination, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communications have closely coordinated with the Central Economic Committee and the Central Party Office to advise and submit to the Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, which clearly states: "Development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation is a decisive factor in the development of countries; is a prerequisite and the best opportunity for our country to develop richly and powerfully in the new era, the era of national development".
"In the coming time, the two Ministries will have many tasks to carry out with the highest determination and effort to complete the tasks and goals set out in the Resolution," said the Minister.
Creating breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation
According to the report of the Ministry of Science and Technology, in 2024, the Ministry accelerated the implementation of 23 National Science and Technology Programs; approved and organized the implementation of 2 new National Science and Technology Programs to solve urgent problems and meet practical requirements.
Social sciences and humanities actively contribute and provide arguments for the formulation of guidelines, policies, mechanisms, policies and orientations for the country's socio-economic development. Some fields of natural sciences have reached the advanced level of the region and the world.

In the field of construction and transportation, science and technology have contributed to solving a number of problems related to materials and technology in road construction and maintenance such as: Research on the use of sea sand as construction material for traffic infrastructure and construction; new standards for designing soft road surface structures, designing and treating weak soil foundations...
In medical and pharmaceutical sciences, we have mastered advanced technology and techniques in diagnosing and treating many dangerous diseases, raising the position of Vietnamese medicine to the level of advanced countries in the region and the world, such as organ transplant techniques; advanced techniques in surgery, minimally invasive interventions. We have mastered technology and produced 11/12 vaccines to serve the National Expanded Immunization Program.
In the field of high technology, Vietnam has made important strides in developing high technology, semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence (AI), affirming its important role in the global high-tech supply chain. The government has issued preferential policies to attract foreign investment, many cooperation projects from large corporations such as Samsung, Intel and NVIDIA, in which Vietnam and NVIDIA have cooperated to establish the Research and Development Center on artificial intelligence and the AI Data Center in Vietnam...
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh said that in the coming time, the Ministry of Science and Technology will urgently coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communications to advise and submit to the Government an Action Program to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.
Advise and submit to competent authorities the establishment of a Central Steering Committee on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Development, headed by the General Secretary of the Party Central Committee. Establish a National Advisory Council on Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Development with the participation of domestic and foreign experts.
At the same time, coordinate with the Ministry of Information and Communications to implement the Consolidation Project; ensure comprehensiveness, synchronization, and connectivity in accordance with legal regulations, goals, requirements, and progress set forth by the Steering Committee on summarizing the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW…/.
