Specifically, the Civil Aviation Authority decided to announce the adjustment of the parameters for coordinating landing and take-off times (slots) at Tan Son Nhat airport during the Lunar New Year 2025 from January 14 to February 12, 2025.
Accordingly, the parameters for coordinating take-off and landing times and flight operations services at Tan Son Nhat increased from 42 flights/hour to 46 flights/hour for the time frames from 6:00 to 23:55 and from 32 flights/hour to 42 flights/hour for the time frames from 0:00 to 5:55 (Hanoi time).
In the domestic terminal area, the number of take-offs in Hall A increased from 13 flights/hour to 15 flights/hour; the number of take-offs in Hall B increased from 11 flights/hour to 13 flights/hour. The number of domestic landings increased from 21 flights/hour to 22 flights/hour.
Normally, in previous years, the increase in operating frequency at Tan Son Nhat airport during Tet was often decided and announced by the Civil Aviation Authority in December every year.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, the early issuance of the decision to increase the coordination parameters at Tan Son Nhat airport on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025 will help airlines and units in the industry proactively and promptly develop plans to exploit and serve the Lunar New Year 2025.
From there, timely communication and information to passengers about supply and market service plans, helping passengers to be proactive and arrange itineraries suitable to their air travel needs.
Increasing the coordination parameters will also create conditions for airlines to supplement, increase exploitation, and increase the supply of seats on routes, thereby being able to provide many air tickets at cheap and reasonable prices during the upcoming Lunar New Year peak season.
The Civil Aviation Authority said it will strictly manage the use of slots by airlines to ensure effective use of slots, maximize airport landing capacity, and ensure the provision of air transport services to meet travel needs during the peak Lunar New Year holiday, with safety, security, and stable service quality.
Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have opened sales of more than 4 million Tet flight tickets.
Since mid-September 2024, Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO) has opened early sales of nearly 1.5 million seats across its domestic flight network during the 2025 Lunar New Year period from January 13 to February 12, 2025 (ie December 14 to January 15).
