At a meeting with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his delight at the positive developments in bilateral relations in many areas; and suggested that both sides promote high-level delegation exchanges at all levels.
Minister Bui Thanh Son proposed that the British Government continue to support Vietnam in finance, technology and capacity building within the framework of the Partnership for a Just Energy Transition, contributing to the implementation of Vietnam's strong commitments at the COP26 Conference; coordinate and support Vietnam to successfully assume the role of Co-Chair of the OECD's Southeast Asia Program, in which priority is given to promoting economic recovery, supporting the economic reform process and assisting Southeast Asian countries to move closer to OECD standards.
Agreeing with the proposals of Minister Bui Thanh Son, Minister James Cleverly emphasized the importance of Vietnam's increasingly important role in the region; highly appreciated Vietnam's economic development achievements, considered this a potential market for UK investment and affirmed that the UK wishes to further deepen cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of security-defense, green economy, and renewable energy.
In the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, the two Ministers agreed on the need to develop measures to continue promoting cooperation in all fields, bringing the strategic partnership between the two countries into depth, effectiveness and substance, serving the goal of sustainable development and effectively responding to regional and global challenges.
The two sides also affirmed that they will continue to strengthen cooperation and support each other at international organizations and multilateral forums, including cooperation within the OECD framework.

At a brief meeting with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, the two Ministers appreciated the positive developments in relations between the two countries in recent years, and agreed to continue to closely coordinate to promote delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels; effectively maintain bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the Political Consultation between the two Foreign Ministries, and continue to support each other at multilateral forums and international organizations.
