Strengthening agricultural production linkage

Having raised aquatic products for nearly 20 years, Mr. Nguyen Van Luong has encountered many difficulties in consumption due to small-scale production. When selling fish, he often has to depend on traders and unstable prices. Since 2020, after joining Phong Hai Aquatic Products Cooperative, these difficulties have gradually been resolved. Mr. Luong has not only been trained in farming techniques, but all commercial fish are also purchased by the cooperative. Mr. Nguyen Van Luong, residential group No. 2, Phong Hai Farm town, Bao Thang district, shared: "Before the cooperative was established, it was difficult to raise livestock, but when the cooperative was formed, it was easier and faster to sell."

Difficulties are resolved when farmers join cooperatives.

Or with the galangal raw material area of more than 160 hectares in the communes of Ban Xeo, Den Thang, Coc My, A Lu and Pa Cheo of Bat Xat district. By participating in the association, galangal growers are not only supported with seedlings and fertilizers, but the output for the products is also guaranteed by the cooperatives. In 2024, Bat Xat farmers earned nearly 13 billion VND from the crop.

Ms. Bui Thi Hao, Deputy Director of Thanh Son Cooperative, Bat Xat district said: "When the output of the people is our input, we accept it all, without refusing, they are very secure. The more we expand, the more we do. Currently, we are expanding and installing more machines to meet the needs of the people."

Investing in machinery, science and technology in production.

According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, to date, the province has 50 models of linking production and consumption of agricultural products, with the participation of 45 enterprises and cooperatives, covering an area of about 18,000 hectares, linking with more than 17,000 households; the value of the linkage chains in 2024 will reach 1,560 billion VND.

Mr. Tran Minh Sang, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province said: “The mindset of people in production linkage has changed positively. People have been more proactive and methodical in production linkage; promoting the development of e-commerce, especially online sales, online trading of agricultural products”.

The linkage models are considered a breakthrough, creating strong changes in agricultural production. Through linkage, many scientific and technical advances are applied to production; forming concentrated, large-scale commodity production areas, gradually shifting from agricultural production to sustainable agricultural economy, contributing to increasing income and improving the lives of farmers./.
