This afternoon, October 19, in Samarkand, Uzbekistan (local time), the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) honored Tan Hoa as the best tourist village in the world.
Tan Hoa is the only village in Vietnam voted by UNWTO among the list of 260 villages from 60 countries participating in the 2023 competition.
On the same afternoon, the People's Committee of Quang Binh province also held a press conference to announce this good news for local tourism.

The Best Tourism Villages Awards are a global initiative of UNWTO that aims to highlight villages where tourism preserves and promotes rural and community-based values, products and lifestyles, while promoting innovation and sustainability.
The initiative also recognises the contribution of villages to sustainable development goals through tourism.
Tan Hoa is a remote mountainous commune of Minh Hoa district, with a natural area of more than 7,427 hectares, an agricultural area of more than 6,621 hectares, and a population of 3,075 people.
Tan Hoa is considered the "water valley" of Minh Hoa district, developing into a "weather-adaptive tourist village". In addition to the charming landscape with limestone mountains, poetic valleys and vast grasslands, Tan Hoa is also famous for its magnificent Tu Lan cave system.
Since 2011, Oxalis Company has been licensed for the first time to survey and test adventure tours in the Tu Lan cave system. Up to now, Oxalis has organized many tourism activities including: dinner experience at local houses, homestay, Tu Lan Lodge, ATV tour experience in Tan Hoa lim forest...
At the press conference this afternoon, Mr. Ho An Phong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Binh province, said that in the coming time, the locality, businesses and people will have a lot of work to do to both develop tourism and preserve the traditional features of Vietnamese villages.
