According to THX , in a post on Telegram , the Israeli army said that they are currently "conducting large-scale attacks" on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, but no further details were available.
Meanwhile, on the same day, AFP news agency quoted a statement from the Israeli government saying that the large-scale attacks took place after "Hamas repeatedly refused to release our hostages, as well as rejected all proposals received from US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and intermediaries".
The statement added that Israel would now act with "increased military force" against Hamas.
For his part, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on the same day that he had ordered the army to "take strong action against Hamas in the Gaza Strip", launching a wave of airstrikes across this Palestinian land.
Meanwhile, the White House said Israel had consulted with the US about the aforementioned attack on Gaza.
