In 30 years in Vietnam, Suntory PepsiCo has not only affirmed its leading position in the beverage industry but also accompanied the development of the country. On the occasion of this milestone, Mr. Jahanzeb Khan, CEO of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, shared about the company's impressive journey.

Looking back on the 30-year journey, what do you think best demonstrates Suntory PepsiCo's commitment to accompanying Vietnam's development?
2024 is an important milestone marking the company's 30 years of presence and operation in Vietnam. Since 1994, right after the country opened its economy, we were one of the first FDI companies. With Pepsi products becoming the first international brand produced domestically, Suntory PepsiCo has built a solid foundation for long-term development.
Throughout this journey, we have continued to innovate to maintain our position as a leader in the beverage industry for more than 20 years. The product portfolio from Pepsi and 7UP has expanded to 13 brands serving the diverse needs of millions of consumers. Vietnam is also the birthplace of many innovative products with local imprints such as Sting and Revive Chanh Muoi - developed from understanding consumers and conquering the international market. Through continuous innovation, we reached an important milestone in 2022 when we reached a revenue of 1 billion USD, especially in the difficult context after the Covid-19 pandemic.
We continue to affirm our long-term commitment to Vietnam with an operating network of 6 factories across the country, from Can Tho, Dong Nai, Hoc Mon (HCMC), Quang Nam, Bac Ninh to the factory about to start construction in Long An. With a capacity of 800 million liters per year, this is not only the largest facility in the Asia-Pacific region but also our largest investment in Vietnam.
What is the key factor that helps Suntory PepsiCo maintain its leading position in the fiercely competitive beverage market?
The Vietnamese beverage market is highly competitive with over 300 brands and dozens of new products launched each year. To maintain its leading position, Suntory PepsiCo’s key factor is continuous innovation, not only through its products but also reflected in its Sustainable Development strategy.
The company is a pioneer in sustainable packaging transformation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions through innovations that increase packaging recyclability, reduce virgin plastic and promote packaging made from recycled plastic. This effort helps reduce more than 5,000 tons of plastic annually, equivalent to 23,000 tons of CO₂ emissions.
The product portfolio has also been improved and expanded with sugar-free, low-sugar and vitamin-enriched product lines such as Pepsi Zero, Revive Zero Calories, TEA+ Green Oolong, and 7Up Sugar-Free Lemon Soda. These products not only meet health needs but also spread positive messages to the community.

As a leading company in the beverage industry, how has Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam contributed to the sustainable development of Vietnam and what is the company's vision for the coming years?
Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam not only focuses on business development but also pioneers in sustainable initiatives. Over the past 30 years, we have accompanied Vietnam in addressing major environmental, social and community challenges, demonstrating our core value of "Giving back to society". Our sustainable development strategy focuses on six key pillars to bring about long-term positive impacts.
As a company closely connected to water resources, Suntory PepsiCo has implemented two parallel approaches to water conservation. From optimizing water use in factories to regenerating water resources through a public-private partnership afforestation program with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. In addition to focusing on water conservation in the present, the company also focuses on the sustainability of water resources in the future through the "Mizuiku - I love clean water" program since 2015, nurturing awareness and love for water resources for the younger generation, and strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Training to deploy nationwide.
Mizuiku raises awareness of water protection and inspires environmental action in the young generation.
Aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in production activities and the entire value chain, we have pioneered the application of technologies and the conversion from fossil fuels to renewable energy at all 5 factories in Vietnam.
Initiatives such as "Kindness of Arms" - a program initiated by Suntory PepsiCo employees - are building "Happy Schools" across the country, "Bring Tet Home" to support disadvantaged people to reunite with their families during Tet; or the Friendship Golf Tournament, raising funds to support children with cancer and education, which have been implemented for many years, bringing practical value to the community.
