SUNTORY PEPSICO VIETNAM COMMENCES CONSTRUCTION OF THE 6TH FACTORY IN LONG AN

Long An, April 8, 2024 – Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company Limited
(Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam) Today started construction of the 6th factory in Huu Thanh Industrial Park, Duc Hoa District, Long An Province. With a total investment capital of more than 300 million USD, this will be the largest and most modern factory of the group in the Asia - Pacific region. With a capacity of up to 800 million liters/year when put into operation, the factory will enhance the ability to meet consumer demand and strongly consolidate Suntory PepsiCo's leading position in the Vietnamese market.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Truong Tan Sang - former President, Mr. Truong Hoa Binh - former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Do Thanh Trung - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Ms. Anne Benjaminson - Acting Consul General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Seiki Furudate - Deputy Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Long An province, Mr. Nguyen Van Ut - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Long An province, representatives of central and local agencies, associations, senior leaders of Suntory and PepsiCo Asia Pacific, Board of Directors and staff of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Do Thanh Trung - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment said: “The Vietnamese Government highly appreciates Suntory PepsiCo's continuous investment and sustainable development in Vietnam. Suntory PepsiCo's project in Long An is one of the largest FDI projects in the province, expected to contribute to the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta region in general and Long An province in particular. The project uses renewable energy as well as applies optimal technologies to save resources, in line with Vietnam's policy of attracting foreign investment.”

Covering an area of ​​approximately 20 hectares, the Long An factory is expected to be powered by renewable energy, such as biomass and solar energy, which will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout its production operations. It will also produce products with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, while implementing initiatives to save natural resources in production. This is a strong step forward for the company in realizing the sustainability commitments of the Vietnamese Government, especially the commitment to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050.

After three decades of operation in Vietnam, from the first factory in Hoc Mon (HCMC), Suntory PepsiCo has maintained its commitment to continuously invest in Vietnam, expanding its presence across the country with 5 factories operating in Can Tho, Dong Nai, HCMC, Quang Nam and Bac Ninh and 6 offices, rising to the leading position in the beverage market, creating meaningful jobs for nearly 3,000 direct workers and tens of thousands of indirect workers, being honored in the Top enterprises contributing to the State Budget for many consecutive years. The groundbreaking of the 6th factory demonstrates the company's vision in its long-term development strategy in Vietnam.

Mr. Takayuki Sanno - CEO of Suntory Beverage and Food Asia Pacific, shared: “Vietnam is one of Suntory’s key markets, we believe in the potential and development of the Vietnamese economy. The 6th factory and the largest and most modern factory of the group in the region will contribute to consolidating the leading position of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, significantly increasing capacity, accelerating the introduction of many innovative products, as well as expanding the supply chain in the host country.”

Mr. Jahanzeb Khan – CEO of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam emphasized: “The Long An factory represents the largest investment in the company’s history in Vietnam. This modern factory will help raise the bar for productivity and sustainable development, paving the way for the company’s long-term growth, enhancing our ability to serve consumers, bringing more sips of joy to breathe life into the brilliance of Vietnamese people’s lives.”

Mr. Nguyen Van Ut - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Long An Province said: Long An is promoting investment to attract modern, large-scale industrial development projects, with a special focus on green technology production projects towards sustainable development. Suntory PepsiCo’s factory project fully meets these criteria and is expected to make a great contribution to the socio-economic development of Long An province in the coming years.”

At today’s ceremony, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Training also donated a clean water facility to a primary school in Long An province within the framework of the “Mizuiku – I love clean water” program, helping to increase access to clean water and improve the quality of facilities. Previously, in 2023, the company organized the planting of 6,000 trees in Duc Hoa district, Long An with the people, to increase shade and reduce the effects of climate change.

Guided by the vision of “Growing for Good”, in parallel with business growth, the company is always strongly committed to sustainable development. The company has implemented many activities to achieve sustainability for water resources through greening upstream forests in the program “Million trees for a green Vietnam” and was awarded a certificate of merit by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in recognition of its positive contribution to the Prime Minister’s 1 billion trees project. The program “Mizuiku – I love clean water” implemented since 2015 has educated more than 400,000 students in Vietnam to preserve and conserve water resources, increasing access to clean water for millions of students and teachers, and has been approved by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam to become an official teaching material at the primary level nationwide in 2023.

The company also strives to promote the circular economy through sustainable packaging initiatives, being the first beverage company in Vietnam to launch products with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic and bottled water with the lightest packaging in the global system.
