Since 1994, the company has been one of the pioneering foreign-invested enterprises investing in the market. Over the past three decades, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam has always accompanied the country's development, constantly increasing investment, expanding production and business scale and growing. From the first two products, Pepsi and 7UP, the product portfolio has now grown to 13 diverse brands, serving millions of Vietnamese people every year and holding the leading position in the beverage industry for more than 20 years. With six factories nationwide located in Can Tho, Dong Nai, Hoc Mon, Quang Nam, Bac Ninh and soon Long An, the company is currently creating jobs for nearly 3,000 direct employees and thousands of indirect workers. Not only that, the company also actively contributes to the state budget and the locality where the factories operate, continuously being in the Top 100 largest tax-paying enterprises for eight consecutive years.
Mr. Do Thai Vuong, Deputy General Director, Public Affairs and Communications, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam shared: “Sustainable development is a never-ending journey and requires collaboration, cooperation and innovation. Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam is committed to taking action, creating widespread models, bringing increasingly greater impacts to the community and the environment. We are proud to accompany the Vietnamese Government to create shared values, have far-reaching impacts and inspire other individuals and organizations to join hands."
Not only leading in business, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam is also a pioneer in sustainable development activities, bringing practical values to the community. The company accompanies the Vietnamese Government's commitment to sustainable development, focusing on solving urgent environmental, social and community issues. The sustainable development strategy focuses on 6 pillars to create positive impacts for people and the planet: Creating positive impacts on water resources; Reducing greenhouse gas emissions; Promoting sustainable packaging; Caring for consumer and employee health; Creating a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) environment; Enriching community life. As a business closely connected to water resources, Suntory PepsiCo has implemented two parallel approaches to conserve water resources. First, optimizing water use in factories through closed-loop and water-recirculating processes, increasingly reducing the amount of water used for production. Second, actively regenerate and restore water resources to nature through afforestation programs in upstream forest areas nationwide through public-private partnerships with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Not only focusing on conserving water resources in the present, the company also focuses on the sustainability of water resources in the future, implementing the water education program "Mizuiku - I love clean water" since 2015, nurturing awareness and love for water resources for the younger generation, and strategically cooperating with the Ministry of Education and Training to deploy nationwide.
In line with the Vietnamese Government's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero, Suntory PepsiCo is implementing a roadmap to reduce greenhouse gas emissions not only in its production activities but also throughout the value chain. The company is gradually converting from fossil fuels to renewable energy, initially through the installation of biomass fuel systems at 100% of its factories nationwide by 2024. Suntory PepsiCo is a pioneer in promoting sustainable packaging by reducing the amount of virgin plastic in its packaging, launching packaging made from 100% recycled plastic, and promoting education to change community behavior to improve collection and recycling efficiency. In 2022, the company became the first beverage company in Vietnam to launch a product with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic (Pepsi) and the following year launched the first bottled tea with packaging made from 100% recycled plastic (Oolong Tea+). Guided by the core value of “Giving back to society”, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam strives to enrich the lives of Vietnamese people, through promoting culture - sports and community. "Kindness of Arms" - a volunteer program initiated by employees, building dozens of "Happy Schools" across the country; "Bringing Tet Home" - supporting people in difficult circumstances to reunite with their families during Tet; and Friendship Golf Tournament - a platform for sharing values to support children with cancer and education, which has been implemented for many years, bringing practical value to the community.
