In the past 6 months, there were 12,350 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 5,343 people and injuring 9,552 people. Compared to the same period in 2023, there was an increase of 1,665 cases, a decrease of 634 deaths, and an increase of 2,426 injuries.
In Lao Cai, the traffic police force handled nearly 9,000 violations; imposed fines of over VND23.4 billion; and temporarily detained 4,240 vehicles. Traffic accidents gradually decreased, specifically, in April there were 27 cases, 9 deaths, 24 injuries; in May there were 22 cases, 7 deaths, 16 injuries; in June there were 17 cases, 4 deaths, 18 injuries.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to synchronously and drastically implement solutions to curb traffic accidents. In particular, focusing on propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on traffic order and safety; actively patrolling, controlling and strictly handling violations; researching and increasing administrative penalties, applying science and technology in inspection and handling of violations, ensuring deterrence.
