Qualcomm claims the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 offers 15% improved CPU performance and a 50% faster Adreno GPU than last year's Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip. The chip is also said to be 20% more energy efficient based on Qualcomm's testing. The Hexagon NPU inside helps deliver a 60% improvement in AI performance per watt over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, while the Adreno GPU supports OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 FP, and Vulkan 1.3 APIs.

The new chip from Qualcomm also supports displays with resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz or Full HD+ resolution at 168Hz. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is also equipped with a Qualcomm Spectra ISP that can handle up to 200MP main camera modules and record 4K HDR videos at 60Hz.

In addition, Qualcomm equips the Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF system-on-chip to ensure download speeds of up to 5 Gbps on mmWave and Sub 6 GHz bands. The connectivity unit also supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 standards.

The first mid-range devices using the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip are expected to launch later this month, with Honor and Vivo listed as the ones opting for the chip.
