Mid-range smartphones will have many AI features like high-end models

More and more artificial intelligence (AI) features are appearing on smartphones, especially high-end models. However, with the launch of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor from Qualcomm, users do not need to spend too much money to experience these features.

To handle AI features on smartphones, a powerful enough central processor is needed and a separate AI task processor is integrated. Thanks to the new Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip, mid-range smartphones will also be equipped with these features.

This is an upgrade of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip launched in September last year. This mobile chip targets the mid-range smartphone segment, with the goal of bringing AI features to more affordable smartphones.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip is equipped with 8 processing cores, including one ultra-high performance core clocked at 2.5GHz, 3 high-performance processing cores clocked at 2.4GHz and 4 energy-saving processing cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 achieves 20% faster processing performance, 40% stronger graphics processing capability, and 30% faster AI task processing performance compared to Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip launched last year.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip is also equipped with the Hexagon NPU processor, which specializes in handling tasks related to artificial intelligence, such as AI-integrated virtual assistants, image optimization features when taking photos, image processing capabilities, AI audio optimization, real-time AI translation, etc.

Qualcomm's new chip supports cameras with a maximum resolution of 200 megapixels, allowing mid-range smartphones to be equipped with 200 megapixel cameras like high-end smartphones, supporting simultaneous photo and video capture, with the ability to process content in parallel and zoom, and switch between lenses smoothly.

The chip also supports AI facial recognition and movement tracking, image optimization when shooting in low light...

However, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 does not support 8K video recording and only allows 4K video recording at 60fps.

Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports the latest LPDDR5x RAM standard, maximum capacity of 16GB, FullHD resolution screen with 144Hz refresh rate. In addition, the chip also has an integrated modem that supports 5G connection and WiFi 6E standard, energy-saving Bluetooth 5.4... which are features only available on previous high-end smartphone models.

It is expected that mid-range smartphones using Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip will be launched next month.
