Con Dao Archipelago (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is currently home to the largest number of turtles that choose to lay their eggs naturally in Vietnam. And here, the journey of sea turtle conservation has been and is taking place with the continuous efforts of Con Dao National Park. Although significant successes have been achieved, sea turtle conservation in Con Dao still has many challenges to overcome.
Recognizing the importance of sea turtle conservation as well as the desire to spread the spirit of responsible tourism in the community, the annual "Run for Sea Turtles" race was born in 2022, a meaningful initiative from AKYN Hotel Investment and Management Joint Stock Company with the company's first hotel - The Secret Con Dao Hotel.
After two successful years of organization, the third "Run for Sea Turtles" race in 2024 has been redesigned with many new and attractive features along with the message "Every step, thousands of green miles", joining hands to contribute to turtle conservation activities in Con Dao. Not only changing the organization time to the romantic sunset time, the organizers also offer participants many options for running distances (3km, 5km, 10km) suitable for all subjects.

Friendly running distance, attractive running course
First up is the short 3km distance that promises to make the race more friendly to young runners and beginners or tourists who want to experience and participate in part of a responsible tourism journey.
Meanwhile, the traditional 5km distance is still maintained to meet the needs of the majority of participants. Finally, the 10km distance will be a moderate and interesting challenge for athletes who are passionate about running.

With these creative innovations, the organizers hope that "Run for Sea Turtles" season 3 will continue to receive enthusiastic response from the community. This event is not just a simple sporting event, it is also part of the effort to protect the long-standing "sea residents" of this beautiful island.

Thereby, raising awareness of the importance of sea turtle conservation, encouraging the spirit of healthy sports and at the same time inspiring the trend of responsible tourism”, the representative of the organizing committee shared.
