Hunting clouds on the northern mountain roads

People often say “wind has no form, cloud has no permanent shape”, meaning that wind has no specific shape and clouds are indefinite, always flowing and never staying in one place. In the vastness of the highlands, the story of “wind - cloud” makes people praise the beauty of the nature of the North even more.

Located just over 100km from Hanoi, Long Coc tea hill in Tan Son district, Phu Tho province is the first evidence of the “Ha Long of the midlands” oasis. Every winter when the weather turns cold, the scene of fog and clouds covering more than 600 hectares of Long Coc tea is extremely magical, especially at dawn.

That fairyland has the cool green color of tea leaves, and the peaceful, romantic beauty of clouds wandering over the smooth, round, bowl-shaped hills that stretch out.

If the midlands in the clouds and wind are as peaceful and romantic as Long Coc, the mountainous areas have a very different, majestic beauty. First of all, we must mention Lao Cai province. From about November of the previous year to March of the following year, wherever you stop in Lao Cai, whether it is Sa Pa town or Bat Xat district or Fansipan peak, everywhere will be an ideal place to watch beautiful clouds.

The clouds in Sa Pa are not floating, they are very dense and white, so that when the sun rises, they will push the giant sea of clouds down to the town like waterfalls. The moment when the clouds flow in such a masterpiece must have inspired the writer Nguyen Thanh Long to record the poetic beauty of nature in Lang le Sa Pa: “The sun now begins to creep in, burning the forest.

The pine trees, just above our heads, shook their silver fingers in the sun under the sheltering gaze of the balsam trees, which occasionally raised their lilac heads above the green of the forest. The clouds, driven by the sun, rolled into balls, rolled over the dewy canopy of leaves, fell on the road, and even slipped under the cars.

Even more unique and only for those who are patient with Sa Pa is the late afternoon sunset, when the town lights up, the clouds still stay to show off a magical, warm and unique party of light. The Northwest still has other interesting surprises, especially with the "thousand clouds" land of Y Ty, Bat Xat district. Located at an altitude of nearly 2,000m, leaning against the Nhiu Co San range, Y Ty possesses a beauty that harmonizes nature and man.

The winding steep roads, the terraced fields winding in the clouds, the rammed earth roofs of the Ha Nhi people dot the space, making it more beautiful than a fairy tale. At that time, just a small shadow of someone walking or the sight of a herd of buffalo leisurely grazing is enough to make people moved by the gentle, poetic beauty of the mountainous region. Floating as if you could touch it, but also illusory, drifting far away in the vastness of the sky and earth.

And the appointment with the clouds and sky of the border cannot be without the name of the roof of Indochina - Fansipan peak - the highest in Vietnam. From an altitude of 3,143m above sea level, people can only admire the majestic landscape when standing in the middle of the fairyland of clouds and sky. From the high point, looking out in all directions, in the pure white of the sea of clouds, there will be areas of brilliant orange-yellow color or eye-catching purple-pink patches. Also due to the "impermanence" of clouds, each moment on Fansipan peak is different, every photo is always different and everyone "hunts" clouds in their own way. The mountains and hills are at eye level, the temple roofs and towers seem to float lazily, in the distance is the majestic and noble statue of Amitabha Buddha in the clouds, people seem to feel their hearts calm down, to quietly enjoy the peaceful moments up high.

The Northwest is so romantic, but the Northeast is equally wonderful! Not only famous for its stone plateaus, yin and yang roofs, and buckwheat flowers, Ha Giang also attracts tourists by the lyrical beauty of its "foggy villages" and "cloud-covered passes". Anyone who loves the border region must have driven to the borderland, and if they are lucky, they will have "clouds covering their heads and sunshine on their shoulders". The dangerous hairpin bends, the moments of stopping to admire the mountains and rivers, everywhere there is wind and clouds descending, blowing in the cold of the highlands, reminding you that the clouds and sky of Ha Giang always accompany travelers.
