PV GAS leaders exchange documents with Excelerate Energy representatives
The event was witnessed by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States Nguyen Quoc Dung and representatives of major corporations in the energy and industrial sectors.
PV GAS had sideline meetings with ConocoPhillips and Excelerate Energy, two strategic partners in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. Discussions revolved around expanding long-term LNG supply, supporting the implementation of Vietnam's Power Master Plan VIII. The parties agreed on cooperation principles to ensure a stable LNG source to meet the increasing demand for domestic electricity production in the context of declining domestic gas resources.
Also during the visit, Vietnamese enterprises signed contracts to purchase equipment, materials and services with a total value of about 4.15 billion USD; creating momentum for hundreds of thousands of jobs in both countries.
For PV GAS, LNG import agreements from the United States will help the enterprise contribute to the implementation of the country's LNG import plan, expected to reach 9 million tons/year by 2030, increasing to 15 million tons/year by 2035, with an estimated total value of 7.2 billion USD/year according to the VIII power plan.
The signing of agreements and memorandums of understanding is a testament to Vietnam’s efforts to expand its import sources from the United States, aiming for balanced and harmonious trade; affirming the proactive and flexible leadership of the gas and LNG market of PV GAS – the pioneer and leading enterprise in the Vietnamese gas industry.
