The customs management area of Nghi Son Port Customs Branch is quite large, with many enterprises operating in import and export of goods, along with means of entry and exit to and from countries and territories around the world. In recent times, with the determination in effectively implementing professional solutions of Nghi Son Port Customs Branch and functional forces, import and export activities have been carried out safely, in accordance with regulations, contributing positively to the State budget, without forming hot spots, prominent, complicated in the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and illegal goods. Implementing the peak of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin in 2024; under the direction of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Customs Department, the Nghi Son Port Customs Branch has developed a plan, synchronously and drastically deployed solutions to strictly manage customs operation areas, and proactively control the situation.
Head of Nghi Son Port Customs Branch Le Hong Phong said that based on proactive forecasting of the situation, the unit has requested assigned civil servants to uphold their spirit, attitude, sense of responsibility, and resolutely and properly implement professional customs control measures. At the same time, it has identified key areas and goods to develop plans and proactively take countermeasures when situations arise. The branch has also mobilized officers and civil servants to work according to the motto "no work, no time", promptly resolving arising problems in customs procedures, creating maximum favorable conditions for customs clearance of import and export goods, and promoting the development of trade activities.
Accordingly, the key areas identified are a number of ports, warehouses, anchorage areas, transfer areas...; goods at risk of smuggling and trade fraud include gasoline, oil; consumer goods such as alcohol, beer, cigarettes, electronic cigarettes, cigars from ships entering Nghi Son seaport. This is also the route through which drugs, firecrackers... are at risk of being smuggled into the country.
Along with promoting propaganda and dissemination of regulations, mechanisms and policies related to import and export activities, Nghi Son Port Customs Branch has focused on reforming administrative procedures, modernizing customs to meet the requirements of building digital customs, smart customs, minimizing the time for handling procedures, saving maximum costs and time for businesses, promoting customs clearance of import and export goods. At the same time, organizing the collection, analysis and evaluation of information on all inbound ships with key items. Strengthening the inspection of customs dossiers right from the declaration registration stage, in order to promptly detect and prevent cases of commercial fraud through taxable values, tax rates, commodity codes, and combating commercial fraud in value added tax refunds. Also in the past time, Nghi Son Port Customs Branch has effectively used machines and tools to support the inspection and rapid testing of drugs on import and export vehicles and goods.
