The average score of more than 5,000 candidates taking the second round of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam increased by 4.54 compared to the first round.
On the morning of January 29, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the scores of the second round of thinking assessment. This round was held on January 20 with more than 5,000 candidates, at 19 locations (Hanoi, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Da Nang).
The highest score this time was 91.55/100, 4.3 points lower than the highest score in the first round. If in the first round there were 3 candidates who scored above 90, this round only one student achieved this result.
However, the average exam score of all candidates in the second round was 57.02, an increase of 4.54 compared to the first round (more than 2,700 candidates).
In addition, the percentage of candidates scoring over 80 points is more than 5.7%, over 60 points is about 34% of the total number of candidates taking the exam. There are 85 candidates achieving the maximum Reading Comprehension score of 20/20. These numbers were not counted in the first round.
The Admissions and Career Guidance Department of Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that in general, the scores were higher than in the first round of exams because candidates were better prepared.
"Many candidates have improved their test scores compared to the first time," said a school representative.
The second round of exams also recorded 59 candidates studying in grades 10 and 11, nearly 58% of whom scored above 50 points. The highest scorer in this group scored 66.34. They will be granted a certificate valid for two years, used for university admission.
Last year, the benchmark score for Hanoi University of Science and Technology based on the thinking assessment test score ranged from 50.4 to 83.97.
The first thinking assessment exam was organized by Hanoi University of Science and Technology in 2020 in the form of a paper test. After 2021 had to be canceled due to Covid-19, the exam will continue to take place in 2022.
Since last year, the thinking assessment test has been conducted on computers. The test consists of three parts: Mathematics, Reading and Science. The format is multiple choice with many types of questions such as: choosing the correct option, choosing the right or wrong answer, filling in the answer, dragging/dropping the answer. The total score of the three tests is 100.
This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology organized 6 rounds of exams. Rounds 1 and 2 took place with more than 7,700 candidates participating. Currently, more than 30 universities and academies use the results of this exam for admission.
