(Dan Tri) - Today, Hanoi University of Science and Technology opened the registration portal for the second round of thinking assessment exam. It is expected that about 20,000 candidates will register for this exam.
Specifically, the second round of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam portal will open for candidates to register from February 1 to February 6.
Candidates in the second round will take the exam on March 8-9. The exam locations are in 13 provinces and cities: Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang and Lao Cai.
Responding to Dan Tri reporter, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duy Hai, Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that if the first round had about 14,000 candidates registered, the second round is expected to have about 20,000 students.
"Usually, the later the exam period, the more candidates register. The school expects about 25,000 students for the third period. We have a backup plan for overload," said Mr. Hai.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duy Hai, the summary from the first round of exams just passed shows that the score distribution is similar to the previous thinking assessment rounds of Hanoi University of Science and Technology in terms of standard score distribution, the median score is stable (about 53-54 points).
"It can be seen that candidates studying under the new or old high school program still take the same thinking assessment test," Mr. Hai commented.
At this point, Hanoi University of Science and Technology only has the last exam session of 2025, taking place on April 26-27 (registration opens April 1-6).
Candidates will be granted a certificate of exam results and can use it to apply to universities nationwide in need.

Previously, on January 18-19, the University of Science and Technology organized the first round of thinking assessment. The first round valedictorian was a male student from Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology also announced the structure of the 2025 thinking assessment test. The total time of the test includes 150 minutes for 3 test contents: Mathematical thinking (60 minutes), reading comprehension (30 minutes) and scientific thinking/problem solving (60 minutes) with the test format being completely multiple choice on the computer.
The structure and content of the thinking assessment test will remain stable for many years to come.

According to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, to comply with the new general education program of the Ministry of Education and Training and ensure the rights of students, from 2023, the school has adjusted the content and format of the thinking assessment test in a concise direction, eliminating thinking according to subject combinations.
The goal of the thinking assessment test is to assess three basic thinking abilities of students, including: Mathematical thinking, reading comprehension thinking and scientific thinking/problem solving - important factors that help students learn best in a higher education environment.
The thinking assessment test is organized in a streamlined and effective manner, applying advanced testing technologies, approaching modern thinking assessment tests in the world, such as SAT, ACT...
Up to now, more than 50 universities have used this result for university admission.
These schools belong to the fields of science, technology, economics, foreign trade, finance, banking, medicine, pharmacy, industry, agriculture, etc.
