Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam said that Quang Tri province always respects King Ham Nghi. More than 140 years ago, the Nguyen Dynasty built Tan So Citadel with the orientation of becoming the "Resistance Capital" in case of any incident in Hue capital.
On July 5, 1885, the capital of Hue fell, King Ham Nghi and his entourage went to Cam Lo, issued the Can Vuong Edict calling on all classes of people to support the king against the French. At the present stage, with the local capacity, only the temple to worship King Ham Nghi and the Can Vuong generals and soldiers has been invested in. In the near future, resources will be mobilized to invest in building an exhibition house, aiming to become the Can Vuong Museum...
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam requested the French Embassy Delegation and Dr. Amandine Dabat to pay attention to supporting the provision of more valuable documents about King Ham Nghi, especially the time when King Ham Nghi was exiled thousands of miles away but he still wholeheartedly turned to his homeland, was filled with the pain of losing his country; restored the ramparts and other architectural works of the old Tan So base...
Thereby enriching the documents, artifacts, historical and cultural values of the National Monument of Thanh Tan So, at the same time deepening the story of the young king who passionately loved his country and was determined to fight against the French.

Dr. Amandine Dabat thanked the leaders of Cam Lo province and district for their concern and deep affection for King Ham Nghi over the years; and was moved when the Department of Information and Communications, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Cam Lo district organized the book launch program “Ham Nghi: Emperor in exile – artist in Alger” and opened the space to display artifacts and documents about King Ham Nghi and the Can Vuong movement on the same morning.
This is an important event to pay tribute to the patriotic king, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the value of the Tan So Citadel National Relic Site, towards the 140th anniversary of King Ham Nghi's Can Vuong Edict. This event is also an opportunity to continue and strengthen the relationship between Cam Lo district and the descendants of King Ham Nghi living in and outside the country.
The wishes of Quang Tri province are also something that Dr. Amandine Dabat and the descendants of King Ham Nghi are interested in, worried about and want to realize. Because King Ham Nghi was always cautious and kept absolute secrecy, his descendants do not have many documents about him during his exile. King Ham Nghi's life during his exile is clearly shown in the paintings he drew, expressing his patriotism and nostalgia for his homeland... Dr. Amandine Dabat affirmed that she and the descendants of King Ham Nghi will coordinate with the province and Cam Lo district to gradually invest in restoring the ramparts and construction items of the old Tan So base and provide more documents and images about King Ham Nghi to enrich the space for displaying artifacts and documents about King Ham Nghi and the Can Vuong movement.
At the same time, we hope that the province will support in providing more valuable information about King Ham Nghi when he was in Vietnam in general and Cam Lo district in particular for the descendants of King Ham Nghi; organize many events related to King Ham Nghi and invest in restoration, display and construction to promote the value of the relic, becoming a destination for today's and future generations.
