At a press conference in Beirut on September 30, Mr. Barrault announced that France would increase support for the Lebanese army, but did not specify the form of support.
According to Mr. Barrault, Paris will also allocate 10 million Euros to the Middle Eastern country to support humanitarian organizations.
The French Foreign Minister called on all parties to cease fire and refrain from any actions that could destabilize the region.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron also called on the US to put pressure on Israel to accept a 21-day ceasefire plan with Hezbollah in Lebanon, saying that Tel Aviv's attacks were a big mistake.
However, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz rejected the ceasefire proposal, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the army to continue fighting with full force.
Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bouhabib also called for an immediate ceasefire “on all fronts”, warning that escalating violence on the country’s borders would “turn into a black hole that engulfs international and regional peace and security”.
“The crisis in Lebanon threatens the entire Middle East,” said Abdallah Bouhabib.
According to Mr. Bouhabib, Lebanon welcomes the efforts of the US and France to quickly reach a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah "before the situation gets out of control, leading to a domino effect, making this crisis uncontrollable."
“Lebanon is now facing a crisis that threatens its very existence,” Mr. Bouhabib stressed.
Israel has been fighting Lebanon for the past two weeks, killing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, killing some 1,000 Lebanese and forcing 1 million to flee their homes.
Accordingly, Hezbollah pledged to confront any Israeli ground attack on Lebanon.
