Pham Thi Hue won the 5,000 meter gold medal at the Taiwan Open.

The gold medal marked the return of Pham Thi Hue. Hue won silver medals in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the 29th SEA Games. At the 30th SEA Games, Hue won gold medals in the 10,000m.

Last year, she was injured and did not attend the 9th National Sports Festival, and at the same time, she missed the opportunity to compete for a place at the 32nd SEA Games. Coach Tran Van Sy said that the Vietnamese athletics team created conditions for Hue to compete again and gain achievements towards the Asian Games at the end of this year.

Also at the Taiwan Open, the Vietnamese track and field team won three more gold medals, from Luong Duc Phuoc (men's 1,500m), Nguyen Thi Hang (women's 400m) and Nguyen Thi Huyen (women's 400m hurdles). Tomorrow, May 29, the Vietnamese track and field team with 13 athletes will return home.

The Taiwan Open is part of the Vietnamese athletics team’s preparation for the Asian Games. In mid-July, the team will travel to Thailand to compete in the Asian Athletics Championships. After that, the athletics team will split into groups to train in Japan or China. In September, the team will participate in the 19th Asian Games held in China.
