(HTV) - At the 21st Session (special session), the 10th term People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City elected Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
On the afternoon of February 20, at the 21st Session (special session) of the 10th term, 2021-2026, the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City elected the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City according to its authority.
At the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Nguyen Thi Le approved the proposal of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on introducing Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, for delegates to elect to hold the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 10th term, 2021 - 2026.

Next, the HCM City People's Council delegates conducted the election by secret ballot.
As a result, 83/84 delegates present (equal to 98.8%) elected Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc to hold the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen presented flowers to congratulate Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc on holding the position of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Previously, presenting the candidacy action program, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc expressed his honor at being nominated to hold the important role of Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc commits to regularly cultivate and practice personal ethics and lifestyle in association with promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics and style; strictly implementing regulations on setting an example, demonstrating exemplary behavior to comrades, colleagues and places of residence.
Within the authority of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee according to the law, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that he will inherit and implement the action program of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee presented at the first session of the 10th City People's Council, term 2021 - 2026.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, in 2025, together with the Standing Committee of the City People's Committee, we will immediately focus on reviewing, supplementing and implementing breakthrough solutions to implement 22 groups of socio-economic targets for the period 2020 - 2025, focusing on GRDP growth of 8.5% in 2025 and preparing conditions for Ho Chi Minh City's growth to reach and exceed 10% in the following years.
Along with that, deploying on schedule and effectively the tasks assigned by the Central Committee, such as: Resolution 18 on apparatus arrangement; Resolution 57 on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; Directive No. 35 on party congresses at all levels; resolving long-standing issues in the area; organizing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
Regarding the long-term mission, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that together with the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, he will commit to focusing on fundamental goals, developing a civilized, modern, happy, compassionate, innovative city, maintaining the role of a leading economic locomotive, a growth pole, and a pioneering development model of Ho Chi Minh City in the Southern dynamic region. On the other hand, overcoming identified limitations and difficulties; building a team of qualified and qualified staff, especially leaders and managers.
In the period of 2026 - 2030, Mr. Duoc focuses on 6 key groups of solutions. These include implementing programs and solutions on city management and development, associated with the results of implementing Resolution 18 on streamlining the apparatus; implementing programs and solutions on urban and infrastructure development associated with the connection between the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta.
Along with that, implementing programs and solutions on economic model transformation associated with the Central Government's implementation results on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; implementing programs and solutions on cultural and social development, effectively solving social security and environmental issues of a large urban area.
Implement programs and solutions to mobilize resources in the period of 2026 - 2030, estimated at nearly 5 million billion VND, of which budget capital is over 1.2 million billion VND, social capital sources are nearly 3.8 million billion VND.
Deploy solutions to ensure political security, social order and safety, strengthen national defense; promote economic diplomacy activities; regional linkage activities, expand development space; prevent corruption, negativity and waste.
"I commit and strive to maintain moral qualities, promote solidarity and intelligence to turn the proposed action program into concrete actions," Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc emphasized.
