Conquer the international competition
For more than 11 years studying at Asian International School, Tran Hoang Duy Bao, a 12/3 student at Asian School, Van Thanh campus, has always maintained the title of excellent student, achieving "Excellent" in the international program. In addition, Duy Bao has always been recognized for his foreign language ability through city-level excellent student competitions. That is the second prize in English in the city-level excellent student competition for grade 9 in the 2021-2022 school year, the third prize in English in the city-level excellent student competition for grade 12 in the 2024-2025 school year. In addition, Bao also participated in the TOEFL ITP test and scored 643/677 points and IELTS with 8.0.
Notably, in the 2023-2024 school year, in the English academic competition - The World Scholar's Cup (WSC), the male student of Asia International School won a total of 17 medals.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Hong Thuy, Principal of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (HCMC), WSC is considered the world's largest English-language academic competition, attracting the participation of over 50,000 high school students aged 8 to 18 from more than 60 countries and territories each year. Candidates demonstrate their abilities in the fields of politics, society, science, history, literature, and art through debates, essays, individual and team multiple-choice tests.
Accordingly, Duy Bao passed the national round with 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and the global round in Bangkok (Thailand) with 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals. At the final round held at Yale University (USA), Duy Bao brought home 1 individual gold medal in Writing, 2 individual silver medals in Challenge, 1 individual silver medal in Debate, 1 individual silver medal in Bowl and 1 group silver medal in Writing.
With the main theme "Reconstructing the Past", in the final round, Duy Bao made an impression with the essay writing competition when he was asked to write a letter to a character in the past about any natural disaster or catastrophe. Duy Bao said that the competition requires candidates to not only have a diverse knowledge base in many fields but also have research methods, synthesis, information summarization, deductive thinking, debate strategies, and essay writing. Before that, debate was still a fairly new field, "but with a good foundation in English, especially speaking skills thanks to studying in an international environment since childhood, I quickly improved through each round of the competition", Bao said.
Not only is Bao good at studying and hard-working, he is also very enthusiastic in participating in extracurricular activities.

Get value from extracurricular activities
In addition to studying, Duy Bao is also a familiar face in academic competitions and extracurricular activities of the school such as Talent Seeking Contest, English Speaking Contest, festivals, sports events... In addition, Bao also actively participates in community projects Design For Change Vietnam - the world's largest children's movement, contributing initiatives and implementing projects that are beneficial to the community. In particular, the environmental protection project "Save The Buddy Nature" by Duy Bao and his teammates stands out to call on production units to reduce and limit the use of plastic waste, raise awareness of environmental protection... Bao was excellently selected to attend the Be The Change world children's conference in 2018 in Taiwan and in Rome (Italy) in 2018.
Bao said that when participating in extracurricular activities, in addition to his solid English and scientific knowledge, he had many opportunities to improve necessary soft skills. In particular, his slide design skills were also significantly improved, helping him become more confident when carrying out large projects and assignments.
In his final year of high school, Duy Bao said he will continue to conquer academic competitions and excellent student exams, improve his results in IELTS and SAT exams. At the same time, he will research scholarships for university programs in and outside the country with the intention of studying marketing.
