The Ministry of Public Security anticipates that candidates with an IELTS score equivalent to 5.5 or higher may be eligible for the combined admission process to police academies in 2025. Last year, the requirement was IELTS 7.5 for early applicants.
According to Major Trieu Thanh Dat, a principal specialist at the Training Department (Ministry of Public Security), this year, police schools are recruiting students through three methods: Direct admission (for students who won first prize in the national excellent student selection exam, the national science and technology competition, or students in the international Olympic team); combined assessment of test scores and foreign language certificates; and combined assessment of test scores and high school graduation exam scores.
A new development compared to last year is that police academies will consider international language certificates in conjunction with an assessment test instead of relying solely on academic transcripts.
With the two combined admission methods, the Ministry of Public Security converts admission scores according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , without dividing quotas according to each method.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry plans to expand the number of subject combinations for candidates applying through the combined admission method using international foreign language certificates.
According to Major Trieu Thanh Dat, these adjustments are aimed at implementing the Ministry of Public Security's policy of improving the quality of recruitment and ensuring that graduates are proficient in foreign languages.
Major Trieu Thanh Dat noted that, since there are currently only police at the ward/commune and provincial levels, the Ministry of Public Security has issued guidelines for commune-level police to receive applications from candidates applying to police academies.
Candidates must register and submit their applications at the local police station before April 15th, completing the necessary documents and meeting the preliminary selection requirements as instructed by the local police officers.
Regarding this year's assessment test administered by the Ministry of Public Security, Mr. Dat stated that there have been some adjustments to better suit students studying the 2018 general education program. There will be four test codes, an increase of two codes compared to 2024.
