Ba Dinh Square is located to the west of the gate of Hanoi's ancient citadel. Along with preserving and promoting the value of the Presidential Palace Relic Site, our Party and State decided to build Uncle Ho's Mausoleum right on Ba Dinh Square.

In front of the Mausoleum is a large Square, 320m long, 100m wide, with a capacity of up to 200,000 people. There are 168 large grass plots that are green all year round, with 1.4m wide walkways between the grass plots. Right in the middle of the Square is a 30m high flagpole, a sacred space of the Capital with flag-raising ceremonies taking place at 6am every day.

About 300m from President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is the Central Party Office building located at 1A Hung Vuong. Many generations of revolutionary cadres have worked here their entire lives following the Party. The office is a staff agency, assisting the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, directly the Politburo and the Secretariat in organizing and operating the Party's leadership work, coordinating and regulating the activities of the Central Party's staff agencies.

These days, people and tourists passing through Hung Vuong Street are always impressed by the view of the Presidential Palace at night, decorated with a new lighting system, which will be put into operation from August 26, 2024. With the French-style architecture of the building, the new lighting system uses yellow spotlights that still retain the same color at night but highlight the motifs, patterns, and layout of the building. The new lighting system is also more artistic, even from a distance, you can still see the details, patterns, and lines meticulously crafted to every corner.
