Not only in the rainy season but also in the dry months, wherever you go in Krong No, you will see green fields of flowers, fruits and vegetables. That is the result after many years of people flexibly implementing intensive farming, alternating crops, and changing crops.

People rotate from rice and corn to beans, then expand the area of sweet potatoes, pumpkins, watermelons, etc. Each season, crops are grown one after another without letting the land rest.
Many fields produce 2-3 crops, but still ensure economic efficiency. Especially high-quality fields such as: rice, corn in Duc Xuyen and Buon Choah communes; sweet potatoes, pumpkins in Nam N'dir and Duc Xuyen communes...
Along with converting to new varieties, people also practice organic and circular farming, applying advanced and economical irrigation technology, helping to promote economic efficiency and minimize risks.
Having just finished harvesting the autumn-winter corn crop, Mr. Nguyen Van Hong in Duc Xuyen commune urgently prepared the land to plant a new crop of watermelons for Tet. This crop, Mr. Hong planted about 1.5 hectares.

According to Mr. Hong, on this land, in previous years he grew pumpkins and sweet potatoes, but in recent years, he has switched to growing watermelons.
Growing watermelon is more effective, each hectare yields about 50 tons. The current price of early-season watermelon is about 6,000 VND/kg, the profit is also quite high compared to other crops.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Van Hai's family in Nam N'dir commune, Krong No district has 3 hectares of land for production. This autumn-winter crop, his family still plants crops with economic value in the locality.
According to Mr. Hai, the local farming land is quite versatile. He can convert many different types of crops on one area but still have a stable income.
During drought-prone seasons, Mr. Hai planted crops that required less water, so production efficiency and income were still quite high.
Mr. Hai said: "If you grow sweet potatoes in the winter-spring season, each hectare will yield about 20 tons of tubers, with a profit of about 50 million VND. At the end of the season, switching to corn and other crops will still be effective. The output has been connected since planting, so I am very assured."

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Trang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam N'dir commune, Krong No district, in recent years, the State has invested in and built synchronous infrastructure serving production in the area.
In particular, the power grid system, roads, pumping stations, irrigation canals... are all quite complete, helping people to produce conveniently.
Up to now, over 98% of the land area for growing rice, corn, and short-term crops in Nam N'dir commune is used by machinery; 100% of the corn area is sown with new varieties.
In the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop alone, more than 300 hectares of sweet potatoes will be planted with drip irrigation and misting technology by local people...
Mr. Doan Gia Loc, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Krong No district, said that agriculture is identified by Krong No district as a key economic sector. Therefore, the district focuses on prioritizing investment and development, helping the agricultural sector become more modern and sustainable.

To avoid people from intensively farming and overlapping crops in a fragmented and small-scale manner, Krong No district has had many plans for agricultural production on a commodity scale and linking value chains.
Mr. Tran Dang Anh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong No district, informed that the district's goal is to promote the application of new, high-yield, high-quality varieties in production.
The district applies high technology and processes to production, aiming to create safe, quality products with output large enough to meet market demand.
The total annual cultivated area of Krong No is about 62,000 hectares, with an estimated food output of 821,000 tons. The value of the district's agricultural sector is about 5,600 billion VND, accounting for about 49% of the economic structure.
