The University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) recently announced its plan for regular university admission in 2025. Notably, the school uses 4 groups of subjects for admission to all majors/specializations, all admission methods, including: Math - English - Literature; Math - English - Physics; Math - English - Information Technology; Math - English - Economic and Legal Education.
Compared to previous years, in 2025 the school plans to remove the two combinations of Math - Physics - Chemistry and Math - English - Chemistry, replacing them with new combinations of Math - English - Informatics and Math - English - Economic and Legal Education.
According to the school representative, this adjustment is based on the results of research on enrollment data for many years, as well as the actual implementation of the 2018 program in high schools.
The school's admissions board has noticed that the trend of candidates registering for the Math - Physics - Chemistry and Math - English - Chemistry combinations is decreasing. On the other hand, Math, English, Economic and Legal Education are subjects that are suitable for the school's training program in the field of law and economics.
The 2025 enrollment plan is designed to select excellent candidates, ensuring input quality that is consistent with the school's training requirements and meets the strict demands of the labor market.

With the method of using the 2025 high school graduation exam results, the National Economics University only uses 4 combinations: A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English) and D07 (Math, Chemistry, English) instead of 9 combinations like in 2024. The 5 combinations that the school does not consider for admission include B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), C03 (Math, Literature, History), C04 (Math, Literature, Geography), D09 (Math, English, History), D10 (Math, English, Geography).
In 2025, the National Economics University plans to maintain 3 stable admission methods, including: direct admission (2%); combined admission (83%) and admission based on high school graduation exam results (15%, down 3% compared to 2024).
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade announced the admission of 5 new groups in 2025, including 4 groups of group C, including: C00 (Literature, History, Geography), C01 (Literature, Mathematics, Physics), C02 (Literature, Mathematics, Chemistry), C14 (Math, Literature, Economic and Legal Education), mainly in the Law, Business Administration, and Hotel groups.
This is the first time Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has recruited group C. The school representative said that choosing a variety of subject combinations for admission will help candidates be more flexible in the process of registering for the school, creating conditions for candidates with a foundation in group C to access many majors and professions of the school. At the same time, it helps the school select students with the capacity and foundation suitable for each major.
In addition, the school also added another combination of three subjects: Math, Information Technology and English. This is also the first time this combination has appeared, because the new general education program has Information Technology as a subject. The school uses this combination to recruit students for the majors of Information Technology, Information Security and Data Science.
This year's 12th graders are the first batch of candidates to take the 2025 high school graduation exam under the new general education program. Candidates will take 4 subjects instead of 6 as before.
Of which, two compulsory subjects are Math and Literature; two optional subjects are from the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Literature, Geography, History, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology and Foreign Languages (English, German, Russian, Japanese, French, Chinese, Korean). There are a total of 36 subject combinations for the high school graduation exam.
Literature will still be tested in essay format with a time limit of 120 minutes. The remaining subjects will be tested in multiple choice format, with Math taking 90 minutes and the remaining subjects taking 50 minutes.
The exam is organized nationwide with the same questions, same exam sessions, and same time according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
