Many environmentally friendly startup models

In recent years, the program of accompanying young people to start a business has been widely implemented by the Youth Union at all levels of Quang Tri province, bringing practical results. In addition to traditional directions, Quang Tri youth have proactively implemented many new, creative, and environmentally friendly start-up models to improve family economy, contributing to local socio-economic development.

Deputy Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Quoc Toan said that the movement to accompany young people in starting and establishing businesses has always been widely implemented and increasingly improved in quality. In 2023, the Youth Union at all levels actively informed about the youth start-up movement in localities and units, thereby spreading and attracting the participation and response of a large number of union members and young people.

In particular, focusing on promoting the dissemination of the state's policies, regimes, and laws on the startup movement. Continuing to operate and maintain the "Youth Startups of Quang Tri Province" network effectively. In particular, actively deploying and connecting resources to accompany and support young people in implementing startup ideas, startup models, and establishing businesses in the fields of green agriculture, environmental protection, and climate change response.

The organic, environmentally friendly fruit farm model of Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung in An Nha village, Gio An commune, Gio Linh district is yielding harvests, making many young people want to learn. Mr. Dung was supported by Gio Linh District Youth Union in coordination with the Gio Linh District Social Policy Bank Transaction Office with a preferential loan of 100 million VND in early 2023 so that he can have more conditions to practice green agriculture.

With this capital and the family's savings, Mr. Dung has expanded the production scale. Up to now, the farm has 500 guava trees, 200 custard apple trees, 500 orange trees, and 200 rambutan trees.

“I use only decomposed manure and fish protein compost as fertilizer, so the plants grow well and have few pests. In particular, I do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic production like this contributes to protecting the ecological environment, increasing soil fertility, and increasing plant resistance. The fruits have a more delicious taste, are favored by consumers, and meet the demand for safe agricultural products for the market in and outside the province,” Mr. Dung shared.

Starting a business with jobs that aim to protect the environment and respond to climate change is attracting more and more young people. Mr. Phan Tai Long in Hamlet 4, Khe Sanh town, Huong Hoa district, is passionate about farming, so after graduating from university with a major in construction, he returned to his hometown to start a business with a high-quality agricultural model.

His model was deployed in Hoa Hiep village, Tan Lien commune, Huong Hoa district. At the end of 2020, Mr. Long started planting 5,000 Hana Moc Chau strawberry plants and 420 Ha Den seedless grape plants on an area of 2,000 m2, which have now yielded harvests and brought high profits.

During the development of the model, Mr. Long absolutely did not use chemical fertilizers to fertilize the plants. Instead, he used fertilizers derived from coffee grounds, citrus peels, and added other types such as soaked bananas, manure, rice husk ash, etc., which were mixed and composted into organic fertilizers to fertilize the plants, helping them grow healthily and protecting the environment. The seedless strawberries and grapes he produced are of very high quality and safe, so they are popular with customers and cannot be supplied to the market.

Mr. Long said that in March 2023, the Provincial Social Policy Bank Branch supported a loan of 100 million VND from the province's job creation channel, which helped Mr. Long have more conditions to expand production scale, at peak times creating jobs for nearly 10 workers.

In April 2023, he was surveyed by the Department of Science and Technology, consulted on the application of new technology on the farm and was supported with 50% of the cost of applying mist irrigation combined with fertilization using Israeli technology for crops. Watering and fertilizing through pipes using this technology helps to use water resources effectively and reasonably, limit evaporation and leaching of fertilizers, improve fertilizer use efficiency and crop productivity.

Mr. Dung and Mr. Long are two of many young people who have been supported in starting a business, aiming to develop green and environmentally friendly agriculture. In fact, activities to support young people in starting a business and establishing a career have always been of interest to all levels of the Youth Union to promote job creation for young people to develop the economy.

In 2023, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee coordinated with the Provincial Post Office to organize a signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement for the period 2023-2026, cooperating in career communication activities, improving business skills, e-commerce for young people, coordinating the use and promotion of advantages, products and services of young entrepreneurs.

Organize the forum "Connecting supply and demand of youth startup products" in 2023 with the participation of businesses and distributors inside and outside the province. Provide training to improve business management capacity and digital transformation capacity for 150 young startups in the province.

Continue to effectively operate the Quang Tri province youth startup network with more than 900 members participating. Promote propaganda, mobilize and support young people to participate in transactions on the Quang Tri online youth startup product consumption support channel - Quangtrimart.vn with 200 stores registered to join the channel with more than 600 products of young people in the province.

The Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has directed district, town and city youth unions to coordinate with the Social Policy Bank at all levels to support young people in accessing preferential loans to create jobs and develop the economy, thereby increasing the total outstanding loan balance of the Social Policy Bank through the Youth Union by the end of October 2023 to VND 535 billion, an increase in outstanding loans of 23%. The whole province currently has 3 cooperative groups, 82 economic development clubs, and 492 youth economic models with an income of over VND 100 million/year.
