Cultural exchange to celebrate traditional Bunpimay New Year

DTO - On the afternoon of April 12, at the Cultural - Community Learning Center of Tan Thuan Dong commune (Cao Lanh city), the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union and the Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Union (VYU) of the province coordinated to organize a cultural exchange activity to celebrate the traditional Bunpimay New Year for international students in Dong Thap province.

Attending the event were comrade Le Hoang Quyet - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union; representatives of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, Dong Thap University, Dong Thap Medical College; nearly 100 Laotian students and members of the Dong Thap provincial Youth Union.

Cultural exchange performance of Lao students

In a joyful and friendly atmosphere, delegates and Lao students together experienced the unique cultural features of Bunpimay Festival such as: the ritual of tying a thread on the wrist for good luck, traditional water splashing, cultural exchange, and Lao national costume performance. Representatives of Lao students sent their thanks for their attention, along with their best wishes for luck and peace to the leaders of the Provincial Youth Union, the Provincial Youth Union and the delegates attending.

The Organizing Committee presents Tet gifts to Laotian students

On this occasion, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee and the Provincial Youth Union Secretariat presented gifts and wished Laotian students a happy and joyful new year, with good academic results. At the same time, the Decision on changing the name of the Lao and Cambodian Overseas Students Club to the Overseas Students Club in Dong Thap was presented.

Speaking at the cultural exchange, comrade Le Hoang Quyet - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union emphasized that the activities to celebrate the traditional Bunpimay New Year are maintained by the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee and the Provincial Youth Union every year to create conditions for Lao students far from home to celebrate the traditional New Year in a warm and friendly atmosphere. At the same time, it is a cultural bridge to help the youth of Dong Thap province (Vietnam) and the youth of Lao localities to exchange and strengthen their close relationship, contributing to consolidating the traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, for the goal of sustainable development together...

The traditional Bunpimay festival takes place from April 13 to 16 every year. This is the season when people have the most free time, after harvesting rice and other agricultural crops. During these days, Lao people gather with their families, wishing each other a peaceful and happy new year.
