On the evening of March 19 at Binh Duong Stadium, the Vietnamese team won 2-1 against Cambodia in the international friendly match of FIFA Days in March.
The goals of the Vietnamese team were scored by Nguyen Hai Long (26') and Nguyen Van Vi (35'). The goal that shortened the score for the Cambodian team was scored by Bong Samuel (64').
Speaking after the match, midfielder Nguyen Hai Long said: "I think the whole team played well in this match. There were times when the team's ball deployment was not smooth, but then it gradually got better.
This is an important step forward for the Vietnamese team before the match against Laos. The points that need to be improved in this match will be analyzed and dissected by the coaching staff with the whole team.
The weather in Binh Duong was a bit difficult for the players, but the most important thing was that the audience came to the stadium in large numbers. This was a great source of motivation for us."
Speaking more about the strength of the Cambodian team that has been improved thanks to the naturalized players, the 24-year-old midfielder of Hanoi FC shared:
"The naturalized players on the Cambodian side played well. The Cambodian team is no longer easy to play against and will soon be a formidable opponent in Southeast Asia in the future. We must prepare seriously if we have to face them."
After the friendly match with Cambodia, the Vietnamese team will continue to train in Binh Duong, preparing for the match with Laos at 7:30 p.m. on March 25, within the framework of Group F, the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.
