The male patient, born in 2008, suffered a traffic accident that resulted in severe traumatic brain injury. The patient was actively coordinated with the emergency department, anesthesiology, and neurosurgery to perform surgical resuscitation and emergency care for the patient.

In particular, the patient suddenly went into hemorrhagic shock with symptoms of deep coma, low blood pressure, rapid heart rate, and bleeding through the nose and mouth. Tests and imaging showed a ruptured internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm, causing severe hemorrhagic shock.

Faced with the patient's critical condition, the on-duty team quickly performed intensive resuscitation, stabilized circulation, and coordinated with doctors from the Department of Neurovascular Intervention, Institute of Neurology to perform emergency vascular intervention: intensive resuscitation, fluid infusion, vasopressors, mechanical ventilation, emergency cerebral vascular intervention, and internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm embolization. Thanks to the timely and synchronous coordination between the hospital's specialties, the patient was saved, gradually recovered, and was discharged from the hospital.

This case demonstrates the importance of early detection and timely intervention for dangerous complications such as ruptured cerebral pseudoaneurysm in traumatic brain injury. Emergency neuroresuscitation and timely cerebrovascular intervention are key to saving the patient's life.

According to doctors here, through this case, it will help raise awareness among the community and medical staff about the importance of timely detection and treatment of dangerous complications in traumatic brain injury, especially complications of ruptured internal carotid artery pseudoaneurysm.

Ministry of Health requests verification of incident of maternal death after cesarean section in Lam Dong

The Ministry of Health has just sent an urgent dispatch to the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health regarding the verification and reporting of a medical incident in the case of a mother dying after a cesarean section at Lam Dong General Hospital.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Health requested the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health to direct the Provincial General Hospital to establish a professional council to review the process of receiving, monitoring, caring for and handling the case of pregnant woman K'H according to the provisions of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment; notify the conclusion of the professional council to the pregnant woman's family and the mass media; and send a report to the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry of Health requests the Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health to strictly handle collectives and individuals if they are found to have professional errors, spirit, service attitude and professional ethics according to current regulations; continue to direct and rectify obstetrics and gynecology examination and treatment facilities in the area to strictly implement Directive No. 06, dated August 11, 2017 of the Minister of Health on strengthening maternal and newborn health care to reduce maternal and newborn mortality.

Previously, the family of Ms. K'L (residing in Lam Ha district, Lam Dong) sent a petition to the Board of Directors of Lam Dong General Hospital, requesting clarification on the death of their relative, Ms. K'H (29 years old), 11 days after giving birth by cesarean section at the hospital.

On September 15, pregnant woman K'H was admitted to the hospital with ruptured water. Doctors examined and diagnosed that the patient and fetus had abnormal signs, so they decided to perform a cesarean section. After the surgery, the patient's condition was stable. Two days later, the patient coughed a lot and had a fever. The hospital ordered monitoring and treatment for sore throat.

By September 19, the patient's fever had subsided, and the family requested that Ms. K'H and her newborn baby be discharged and allowed to go home. On September 21, Ms. K'H was transferred to Lam Dong General Hospital in a state of difficulty breathing and blood pressure that was difficult to measure. After a while, the patient became comatose, had a distended abdomen, and a purple, tense incision in the middle of her abdomen.

Lam Dong General Hospital held a hospital-wide consultation to perform emergency surgery. After surgery, the patient was monitored in the Intensive Care and Poison Control Department in a state of poor response to treatment. By September 26, the patient was in a deep coma.

After the hospital explained, the family asked to take the patient home. On September 26, Ms. K'Hien died. The patient was a medical worker with a history of hypothyroidism.
