On the evening of July 1, Long Bien District Police (Hanoi) said that the unit is investigating and verifying a case in which a subject impersonated a police officer and defrauded 1.5 billion VND.
Accordingly, on June 19, Bo De Ward Police (Long Bien District) received a complaint from Ms. H. (born in 1969, in Long Bien). Ms. H. received a phone call from a person claiming to be a police officer and saying that she was involved in a drug trafficking and money laundering ring.
The subject asked Ms. H. to provide her bank account and OTP code for verification. When she followed this person's request, Ms. H. discovered that 1.5 billion VND was missing from her account, so she went to the police to report it.
From the above incident, Hanoi City Police recommends that people be vigilant and avoid falling into the traps of bad guys. To work with people, the police will directly send invitations and summonses, and absolutely do not ask people to transfer money to bank accounts.
When detecting cases with signs of fraud as above, people need to immediately report to the nearest police agency.
