The National Day holiday of September 2nd starts tomorrow (August 31st) and lasts until September 3rd (4 consecutive days). Many workers and laborers in the localities are arranging plans, preparing luggage and means of transportation to return home for the holiday.
Faced with the risk of traffic congestion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has issued a directive on ensuring traffic safety, focusing on raising workers' awareness when participating in traffic, disseminating legal knowledge and encouraging a culture of safe behavior.
Specifically, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, signed an official dispatch to the labor federations of provinces and centrally-run cities, industry unions and unions at corporations under the General Confederation of Labor, regarding ensuring traffic safety and order during the National Day holiday on September 2.
Implementing the Prime Minister's Official Dispatch No. 81/CD-TTg dated August 20, 2024 on ensuring traffic order and safety during the National Day holiday on September 2 and the peak month of traffic safety for students going to school, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requests that trade unions at all levels actively propagate and raise awareness of union members and workers when participating in traffic.
According to the trade union, this is also the time when the new school year begins for students across the country, increasing traffic and posing potential risks of accidents and congestion.
With the message "Human life is above all", people need to pay attention to safety when participating in traffic, especially in industrial parks and economic zones during the holidays.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized the need to disseminate information on strict handling of violations on social networks, such as posting or sharing false information that negatively affects traffic order and safety, and handling cases of interference in the handling of violations by authorities.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also encourages union members to practice civilized behavior when participating in traffic, not to jostle or push, to maintain public hygiene and to comply with safety regulations, especially on highways, traffic hotspots and in industrial zones.
Short, easy-to-understand and easy-to-remember messages such as “If you drink alcohol, beer - do not drive”, “Do not use the phone while driving”, “Wear a standard helmet when riding a motorbike, scooter, electric bicycle” and “Fasten seat belt when sitting in a car”… need to be widely disseminated. Trade unions at all levels are also required to publish hotline numbers to receive information and promptly handle traffic incidents.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor recommends that if there is a traffic incident involving workers during the National Day holiday, trade unions at all levels need to report to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor before September 5.
With these specific instructions, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor hopes that all union members and workers will strictly comply with traffic safety regulations and instructions, ensuring a safe and happy holiday.
