These days, the two roads are full of machinery, construction workers, and materials. People doing business on these two roads are very anxious because Tet is approaching, which is also the main business season of the year.

Ms. Cao Thi Vinh, owner of a restaurant on Le Hong Phong Street, said: Urban beautification to make the streets more modern is something that people agree with. However, the construction and digging of roads… have actually affected our businesses.

“My restaurant alone has lost 2/3 of its customers compared to before. There is no place to park so customers have to go elsewhere. Not to mention that it is dusty and they don’t come in to eat. The end of the year is the season for units and organizations to summarize, gather, and celebrate... in previous years, there were a lot of customers, but this year, it is unbearable. While the rent for the premises is more than 100 million VND per year, we have already paid the landlord. The restaurant used to have 3 employees, now there is only 1 because we don’t have enough money. I just hope the road will be completed soon so that I can do business with peace of mind and make up for the losses in the past time...”, Ms. Vinh expressed.

It is known that Le Hong Phong Street is 2.1 km long, passing through 4 wards: Quang Trung, Hung Binh, Hung Phuc and Truong Thi. Because it is located in the center of Vinh City, the street always has a high traffic density. On this street, there are many agencies, units, schools and businesses. This is also the component most heavily affected during the road construction process.

Ms. Vinh's feelings are also the feelings of businesses on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street. A representative of a large fashion shop on this street said: Nearing Tet is also the time when our store imports many models of clothes, shoes, and cosmetics to serve people shopping for Tet. However, due to the busy road construction, the number of customers has decreased sharply. This year's Tet season, revenue is unlikely to reach expectations. Our wish is that the city will soon complete the premises and sidewalks so that people can temporarily do business during this Tet holiday, other items can be done later...

It is known that Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street has a total length of nearly 1.4km, including 2 sections. The section from Le Loi to Le Hong Phong intersection is 289m long and the section from Le Hong Phong intersection to the Provincial Post Office intersection is nearly 1.1km long. This is a bustling business street in Vinh city. Therefore, it is understandable that shop owners are "impatient" because of the lack of customers during this pre-Tet period.

According to research, many projects are currently being constructed on these two routes, such as widening the roadway, renovating sidewalks, curbs, weaving ditches, replacing trees, burying power lines, and installing drainage systems... Among them, the project that people are most interested in is renovating sidewalks to create a business space during Tet.

Discussing this issue, a representative of the Vinh City Project Management Board said: The renovation of these two streets is expected to be completed in all items by the second quarter of 2024. However, the issue of business premises for the people is a legitimate need and the unit is also trying to speed up the progress.

For Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street, the underground part has been basically completed, trees have been replaced, and sidewalk paving is underway, the ground is restored, and the sidewalk renovation project is expected to be completed before Tet.

For Le Hong Phong Street, due to the large amount of work (nearly twice as long as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street), it is very difficult to complete the entire surface before Tet. Currently, the unit is making efforts to complete the renovation and paving of the sidewalk from Customs Island to Nguyen Van Cu intersection. The remaining sections are being concreted to create a temporary surface for people to do business during Tet.
