With over 12,700 completed houses, Nghe An is one of the leading provinces in the country in implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The whole province aims to complete the construction and repair of all 9,052 houses by August with a total cost of 416 billion VND.
This March, Mr. Lo Van Dan's family is one of the last poor households with dilapidated houses in Yen Khe commune (Con Cuong district) and is preparing to build a new solid house. With the 60 million VND support from the Temporary and Dilapidated House Elimination Program, Mr. Dan's family has made efforts to balance the counterpart resources to try to build a new house on the old land. With a new place to live soon, the whole family does not have to worry about every rainy and stormy season, and family members are also given more confidence and motivation to work with peace of mind to develop the economy.
To achieve the goal of completely eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, Con Cuong district has so far built and repaired 438 houses for poor households and people with difficult housing circumstances. With a total of 539 houses remaining to be completed, the locality is focusing on speeding up the progress, effectively applying creative methods to mobilize the entire community to help households. For households without counterpart resources, the District Steering Committee has proactively used support from the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group with a support level of 80 million VND/house and implemented the work in a turnkey manner.
Mr. Vi Van Quy - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Con Cuong district said that in order to ensure the public and transparent support process, the Fronts of communes and towns have coordinated with functional agencies to conduct screening, go to every alley, knock on every door, and check each subject. Along with that, the Front and organizations have also actively mobilized and called for support in terms of both human and material resources to support households in building and repairing houses.
“Up to now, the district has mobilized more than 29 billion VND from social resources along with the budget allocated from the National Target Program of more than 2.7 billion VND. The locality has disbursed 27.5 billion VND to support beneficiaries in building and repairing houses. In addition, families, clans, and neighbors of beneficiaries have also joined hands to support in many forms with a budget equivalent to nearly 3.9 billion VND” - Mr. Quy informed and added that the District Steering Committee and the grassroots directly stick to the area to urge, direct, and mobilize the entire political system to help the poor and people in difficult circumstances soon have solid houses. The whole district aims to complete the task of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses before August 2025.
Also in the second quarter, Tan Ky district strives to complete the elimination of the remaining 49 temporary and dilapidated houses according to the social mobilization and support program. To complete this goal, members of the Steering Committee at district and commune levels regularly visit assigned areas, grasp the specific situation of each locality and each subject in order to have appropriate support solutions.
For households in particularly difficult circumstances, the locality has had flexible solutions to mobilize all local resources, mobilize brothers, relatives, neighbors to help with labor, materials, and funds to encourage families to build and repair houses. According to statistics from the Tan Ky District Steering Committee, along with the budget allocated through mobilizing and socializing families, clans, neighbors, etc., support has been provided in many different forms with a converted value of up to nearly 36 billion VND to help poor households in difficult circumstances build and repair houses.
With the motto "Maximizing internal resources, enhancing external resources", in the coming time, the Steering Committees at all levels in Nghe An will regularly review the list of registered sponsors to actively call for and mobilize support for the Program, ensuring that the targets are met and the committed time is exceeded. Relevant departments, branches and units closely coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels (Standing agency of the Steering Committee) to support the right beneficiaries, absolutely not supporting beneficiaries outside the list approved by the locality.
Ms. Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province said that from now until August 31, the whole Nghe An province needs to build and repair 9,052 houses, of which the number of houses under the socialization program is 2,826 houses; the national target program is 2,391 houses; the policy family support program is 3,835 houses. This is a high target that requires great determination and effort from the entire political system and each household. To reach the target on schedule, the Provincial Steering Committee has directed localities to regularly follow the assigned areas, grasp the specific situation of the locality and each approved subject to promptly direct and implement the Program to ensure flexibility, efficiency and progress.
