"Viollage" is a combination of "violin" and "village", expressing the album's theme of the peaceful countryside where Quynh Nhu was born and raised.
The album includes 9 Vietnamese works by famous musicians such as: Van Cao, Pham Duy, Ho Bac, Tran Tien... The songs are familiar to many generations of audiences, arranged for violin through the delicate, romantic and fresh, youthful sound of violinist Quynh Nhu.
The works in the album are gentle, familiar melodies from the period of the resistance war against the French until now, reminiscent of the rustic, peaceful countryside imbued with village love and neighborly affection. In particular, the album opens with 3 famous songs of My Village , expressing Quynh Nhu's deep love for her village.
Including all 3 songs of My Village (Van Cao, Ho Bac, Chung Quan) not only shows Quynh Nhu's admiration for the talent of 3 veteran musicians of Vietnamese music but also shows gratitude to the Vietnamese countryside.
The album also includes other works such as: April Returns (Duong Thu), Old Fragrance (Cung Tien), Sorrow (Pham Duy), I'm Still Like the Old Days (Tran Tien), Dream (Doan Hoai Nam), Xu Doai (Tran Tuan Anh), performed by Quynh Nhu with a soaring and romantic guitar sound, imbued with the love for her homeland of a girl born in a rural area in Quang Ninh.
The album was arranged and mixed by two young musicians Luong Viet Tu and Hoang Trung Duc, bringing a new, civilized color to familiar Vietnamese works with emotional and soulful violin sounds. The product from the young team expresses love for the homeland, love for the Northern countryside and wants to conquer audiences of all ages.
Quynh Nhu was born in 1995 in Quang Ninh, studied violin since the age of 8 at the Vietnam National Academy of Music under the guidance of teacher Vo Van Ha. In 2023, she attended an advanced course in Paris with Professor Smailovic-Huart. Viollage is the first solo violin album project that Quynh Nhu has cherished after a long journey with the instrument.
Quynh Nhu was born into a non-artistic family but showed musical talent from a young age. One day, after watching violinists perform on TV, she asked her mother to let her learn violin. At that time, there was no violin school in Quang Ninh, so her mother took her to the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music). There, she passed the entrance exam to the elementary level and studied under the guidance of teacher Vo Van Ha.
During her years studying violin, despite many difficulties due to living far from her family and the harshness of professional music studies, Quynh Nhu tried hard, never gave up and always cherished the idea of carrying out personal projects with her instrument.
The album Viollage marks her maturity and is a milestone in her musical journey. The album is released in 3 formats: vinyl, CD and digital, with limited physical editions.
