On the evening of March 9, Ha Anh Tuan's second performance Sketch A Rose in Ho Chi Minh City continued to fill the audience. Previously, on the opening night of March 8, the show attracted more than 10,000 spectators.
The event marks an important milestone when Sketch A Rose officially sets foot in Vietnam, after successes at the Esplanade Theater (Singapore) and the "cathedral" Sydney Opera House (Australia).
The music night started later than expected, at 8:40 p.m., Ha Anh Tuan appeared on stage, opening with Starry City Night as a tribute to Ho Chi Minh City - where he was born and raised.
However, just a few minutes after he started singing, a sudden downpour made many of the audience worried. On stage, the male singer calmly reassured: "It's normal for showers to happen in Ho Chi Minh City. Especially, rain in the first months of the year means money, so all the audiences here will be very rich this year."
Throughout the music night, Ha Anh Tuan led the audience through new compositions in Sketch A Rose such as "Khach Tho" (Thanh Nghiep), "Ven Nguyen" (Hoang Dung)...
In particular, when it came to the song "Ven Nguyen" , the male singer suddenly invited Hoang Dung to the stage to sing a duet. In a simple outfit with a shirt and a baseball cap, Hoang Dung did not hesitate to sing along with his senior, creating a moment of emotional sublimation.
In particular, the audience burst into tears when Ha Anh Tuan performed First Love Too Much with Quang Hung MasterD. Ha Anh Tuan shared that he invited Quang Hung MasterD because he wanted to "absorb" the youthful energy from his junior.
Quang Hung MasterD also presented the audience with hits such as "Don't cry alone, my dear" and "Smiling eyes" . Before leaving the stage, Quang Hung MasterD tried to "change hits" with Ha Anh Tuan, performing "April is your lie" and "Spring is coming" in his own style.
In addition, the music night also featured Tran Duy Khang (Chillies group) with Paradise and From the Ashes .
Singer Lam Truong also participated with a series of hits: 999 roses , Katy Katy , Airport Rain... Lam Truong shared that the Sketch A Rose stage evoked many emotions for him, reminding him of the music nights of his youth.
Meanwhile, Ha Anh Tuan revealed that he used to be a fan of Lam Truong, willing to spend a lot of money to attend the music nights of "Anh Hai" (Lam Truong's nickname). He also expressed his wish to have the same fame, hit songs and "ageless" beauty as his senior.
In the performance "Love is just so sad" , the singing duo did not hesitate to step down to both sides of the stage, connecting directly with the audience from afar, creating a close and nostalgic atmosphere.
Another sweet moment took place when Ha Anh Tuan introduced the song Em composed by Vu Cat Tuong. On stage, he transformed into a "matchmaker", helping two couples propose.
The final minutes of the concert saw the appearance of legendary pianist Yiruma. He shared that Ha Anh Tuan’s music and the passionate love from the Vietnamese audience had truly touched his heart.
Under Yiruma's skillful playing, the whole audience was immersed in the melodious tunes of Kiss the Rain , River Flows in You...
Closing the music night, Ha Anh Tuan mash-up the hits from his debut album Hat Doi, which he collaborated with Phuong Linh. The familiar melodies of Thien Duong Goi Ten , Yeu Em and Con Mua Tinh Yeu were also played, bringing the audience back to beautiful memories.
The music night ended at 0:15 on March 10. Not just a music night, Sketch A Rose is also a musical journey meticulously led by Ha Anh Tuan, taking listeners through every range of emotions, from deep ballads to energetic songs.
The event brought together nearly 150 artists, including the Crystal Band, the Saigon Pops Orchestra and the Saigon Choir, under the direction of conductor Tran Nhat Minh and music director Nguyen Huu Vuong.
Before saying goodbye to the audience, Ha Anh Tuan revealed a special show at the Dolby Theatre (Hollywood, USA) next October, promising to continue bringing Sketch A Rose further on the world music map.
